Our defence shouldn't be part of this project. Defenders have to be top, super-experienced players and team leaders. The rest can be anything they want to be. I have seen top-level players who are U20, but I haven't seen top-level centre-backs who are U20. Defenders peak late; they mature through the games they play. It doesn't matter how talented any U22 or U23 defender we sign is; he will be prone to errors and will be unstable. It's just impossible to carry out projects with defenders at this level and survive. That's one of our mistakes. If we have a stable defence, this project won't look as bad as it does.
