Bleep Test Results: (1st) Reggie Walsh. Incredible result for our Cobham star, as a lot of us are expecting a breakout season. There’s been a lot of talk around Reggie, particular with how much he’s grown since debuting under Maresca two seasons ago. There’s a reason why he’s rated so highly. (2nd) Cole Palmer. After an ENTIRE season riddled with injuries, it’s really nice to see Cole back and fit again. This was his first summer off in three years and it looks like he took full advantage of it. Xabi Alonso: “Cole will be a key player.” (3rd) Estevao. After he suffered that hamstring injury, we read worrying reports about it being a LOT worse than initially expected. Well, from what we’re seeing early in preseason, he seems to be doing okay. What a player. What a future. Really feel for the guys who didn’t make the World Cup, but for their health + Chelsea, it’s huge for our upcoming season. A fresh Palmer, Colwill, Estevao, João Pedro, Quenda, Palestra…

I’m overpaying for Maxence Lacroix before walking away from the deal. This type of signing is vital for Xabi and our upcoming season. With Lacroix, we know what we’re getting. A CLEAR upgrade at the CB position, a partner perfect for Colwill, and the right experience. Genuinely, ask any Chelsea supporter at the end of last season what they were hoping for during the summer window and they’d list all three of those. I’d rather spend £70m on a player like Lacroix than £50m on a player who doesn’t provide the same qualities.

Maxence Lacroix is an important player for us this summer. Think of how Jonathan Tah played under Xabi at Bayer Leverkusen. Lacroix adds the RIGHT experience, he’s a perfect partner to Levi Colwill, and is a clear upgrade in the squad. CB position is our weakest position and signing him would be a step in the right direction. We need to do everything we can to back Alonso and Lacroix helps us do that. I also like how the Jacobo Ramon links aren’t going away. Another clear upgrade to the squad.

I’ve no issues with Xabi Alonso keeping Reece James as our Captain. We talk about needing standards, mentality, character, and players who bleed Blue at this Club… Reece James has these in abundance. That being said, Enzo cannot be our vice captain, ESPECIALLY with what we’ve seen from him and his agent since that loss to PSG in the Champions League. Caicedo or Colwill should be in the running for vice captain.
