This comment, and those like it, claiming that we must only forgive after there is repentance is anti-Christian. I know this isn't the "based Trad West" perspective, but if you lose this reading, you lose what made the West great. The Fathers speak that Our Lord's instruction that we pray "forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us" is about ending vengeful obsession. The example that they often give is the patriarch Joseph. His brothers sold him into slavery by their pure hatred and envy of him. Yet *without their repentance* he aimed all of his efforts at trying to obtain their good, and in the end, he obtained their typological salvation. In a similar way, we must forgive those who trespass against us, and instead of using all of our private will to obsess about vengeance, the Lord calls us to use this willfulness to obtain their own salvation. We are not just called to forgive our enemy, but to love him, and this means to wish for his repentance and salvation, avoiding vengeful obsession on our parts. St. Augustine, speaking on the Our Father said this: "it is not for those who ask pardon that we are enjoined to pray. For those who are already in such a state of mind are no longer enemies." The State, serving the common good, must ensure that justice is obtained. But the individual must forgive, as God forgives him. So not only was Erika Kirk completely in the right, but the Holy Ghost truly seems to have worked the Gospel in her heart, and that is what *builds* Western Civilization, rather than what destroys it.
Dissident West@dissidentwest

Not to dunk on a mourning wife and mother, but this exactly the type of suicidal empathy that will destroy Western civilization and everything you've ever loved and cared about if it's allowed to go unchecked in positions of authority.

Charlie Kirk's memorial at Glendale was packed. People were there since 4 AM and still couldn't get in. Probably 100,000 outside, not even counting the packed stadium
