The Mercury astronauts launched from May 5, 1961 (Alan Shepard) to May 15, 1963 (Scott Carpenter). Compared to today's standards: retiring the space shuttle in 2010 to two Artemis launches: 2026. The difference was Von Braun to today's NASA engineers; there is no comparison!

Artemis I, formerly Exploration Mission-1 (EM-1), was an uncrewed Moon-orbiting mission that launched on November 16, 2022. Artemis II launched Apr 1, 2026, and that is a four year differential between launches; so the next launch for Artemis III should be in 2030.
