@IBJIYONGI It can’t always work, but I try to resolve what I can privately before I go public with a criticism. And though I’ve never needed to, I imagine strategizing with them about how we can disagree publicly in a way that helps them. Drama is currency in the attention eco.

@IBJIYONGI Sorry people were weird. Comments were off by the time you posted. But I have ADD and basically can’t read without visual cues (highlighters and colored annotations) of where I just was. For me it’s a necessity and I’m sorry people are mean about it.

Sciencey People: What's your favorite esoteric term from your field. I've always been a big fan of "chirality" and "Confidence Interval." Also, I think "titration" is under appreciated.

Now that I've had a few weeks for the news to settle in, I feel ready to share that I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately it's very early, small, and treatable, so it looks like I'm going to be fine. But obviously it's still been a pretty difficult time.

I’m working on a project that will be a mix of sources, printed documents, digital, old newspapers, and some things from museums I obviously can’t annotate and I’m already unsure how to proceed.

Academics, how do you keep track of paper research? Three hole punch? Folders? Or are you just disciplined about being all digital somehow? What’s your system?
