On Friday I was a guest host up in Sacramento, 6-10 am, on Sactown Sports 1140. Naturally we rolled into some college football talk. With the transfer portal and NIL front and center right now, here’s how that topic went.

@JohnMamola 100%. Their broadcast teams and studio shows in particular have been outstanding. Rebecca Lowe, as she did in the Olympics, is a great studio host. She understands pacing, nuance and how to create space for her panel (in particular Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimović) to shine.

@CGProgram @CamWorrell I think I shared this with you before, my first Doctor as an adult was Dr.Tony Adamle , you may recall his son was also a pro football player and later was an announcer for NBC Sports in the early 80’s, he unfortunately received to many concussions and suffered from CTE

When I joined ESPN Fresno I was told a week before Fresno State’s opening football game I would be co-hosting Game Day Live with @CamWorrell. My first thought was “THE Cam Worrell??” As a born and raised Chicago Bears fan it was indeed THAT Cam Worrell. And so began an amazing run working with an elite football mind in front of thousands of people on the west side of then Bulldog Stadium, on the phone for every road game and together for bowl games, notably the Las Vegas Bowl. Cam has been the sideline reporter for Bulldogs Football seemingly forever. He’s moving on and I can’t help but think what a loss this is for Fresno State fans everywhere. I will tell you of all the people I’ve worked with in broadcasting for 22 years, no one has ever been more prepared, more knowledgeable, and more fun than the hard hitting safety out of Chowchilla, Fresno State and the Chicago Bears. I hope an NFL analyst job is in his future because he could walk into a booth tomorrow. He is that good. Thankfully, he will continue to come on my program because… well, he is that good. 

@DADDYDAV_VFL @CamWorrell Same. One of my favorite college highlights was being in the Coliseum for Joe Montana’s final regular season game at Notre Dame. The Irish were down big to SC at halftime only to see him lead ND all the way back but… then lose on a FG as time expired. Incredible game.
