🤘😤🤘 Nature is metal. This island loggerhead shrike was caught eating their lunch. Known for impaling their prey, this bird has been named "butcher bird. They eat their prey in this fashion because they lack the talons to accommodate holding their prey while consuming it.

Even the island foxes are happy it’s Friday! 🦊 Ever hear of the saying “sly as a (island) fox?” These foxes are adorable, but if you turn your back, they will get into your food. To prevent them from getting into human food is to put it into animal proof containers.

Park visitor Carrin travels with a cigar box of oil paint supplies and a tripod/easel. Carrin was inspired by the island bluffs forming Scorpion Bay. How would YOU spend an extra 20 minutes waiting for a return boat, at Channel Islands National Park?

Park volunteer Russ, says, "My happy place is on the Carrington Point trail (on Santa Rosa Island). There is a point where the trail turns and if it's a clear day, you get a spectacular view of San Miguel Island. I try to come here every year during springtime to see this view."

Don’t forget to stop and smell the… giant coreopsis? Giant coreopsis is native to the Channel Islands. The blooms have only just begun with handfuls of plants seen displaying their flowers on park islands. The coreopsis flowers and leaves dry out during the summer and fall.
