Through CHOC’s transport support and accommodation services, families can stay close to treatment while holding onto the hope of returning home. Because sometimes the most meaningful part of the journey, is the people who travel it with you.

Over time, the journeys between CHOC House and the hospital become more than just a ride. For Zotha, they become relationships. Children start calling him Malume, meaning “uncle”. A small word that carries trust, comfort and familiarity during a difficult time.

Through the iPad Learning Programme, children and teenagers in hospital are able to continue learning, stay engaged with schoolwork and reconnect with a sense of normal childhood.

For many children or teenager receiving cancer treatment, hospital stays can last weeks or even months. During this time, staying connected to school becomes an important part of maintaining routine, confidence and hope.

Behind every child and teenager supported by CHOC is a social worker walking the journey alongside them. From emotional support to practical guidance, CHOC Social Workers play a vital role in helping families navigate the childhood cancer journey with strength and dignity.

When families cannot afford the cost of transport, CHOC steps in helping children, teenagers and their caregivers travel home safely through our Transport Support Programme. Because sometimes the greatest medicine is simply being surrounded by the people you love. #CHOCSA
