Computing and Enterprise Congleton

Year 8 Computing and Enterprise students have been looking at networks and distance communication recently. We even tried out some semaphore!

The Hot Lap Hotseat was closely contested at lunchtime today. Congratulations to our winners: Mia H (Y9) and our champion Retro Racer Aston G (Y7).

Well done to our top 3 drone flyers: Ethan D (Y8), Aston G (Y7) and Lewis D (Y7). Hot Lap Hot Seat tomorrow lunchtime.

The drone obstacle course competition is hitting up this lunchtime - we’ve already had some excellent times…and our first crash landing!

Our lunchtime activity today was Olympic Animations with Mrs Glendening. Some nice work happening in F1-06 today.

With just a 30 minute time limit, we saw some great modelling in our lunchtime Sketchup Sprint today. Tuesday lunch is Olympic Animations with Mrs Glendening in F1-06. Still a few places left for Wednesday’s drone obstacle course and Thursday’s Hot-Lap Hotseat.

Y12 & 13 Computer Science and IT students had a really informative talk this morning from Chris @StaffsUni about degree-level study. Really interesting hearing about the range of placement years students have experienced and options available for students.

Y10 Computer Science students have been exploring colour depth today and making some great 8-bit images.

Some fantastic animations produced in our Y8 lesson today - great examples from Fin G-B, Henry B and Millie D.

Y10 Computer Scientists are going back in time today as we learn about operating systems - Windows 3.1 and Apple System 7. Nostalgic computing!

It was technical demo day today for the Y13 Computer Scientists. Students presented their Programming Project (20% of A-Level grade) to the class for feedback & development. Very thorough demos given - the projects are taking shape! @CongletonHS
