Christ in the City

The leading cause of homelessness is ruptured relationships. Without a proper support system, any combination of unfortunate events can cause someone’s life to unravel. In a season marked by abundance, let us be all the more aware of those suffering most in our communities.

Many of our friends experiencing homelessness once lived very ordinary lives. The invitation today is simple: treat every person as someone who has tried their best through challenges you may never see.

Today the Church celebrates the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let us turn to our Mother, Our Lady of Reconciliation, and ask her to pray for our own poverty of heart and for the tangible poverties of our friends on the street and in our neighborhoods.

The sun, the moon, and the stars were made. The sea and sky, the fish and birds were made. The land, plants, and animals were made. And God decided He didn't want a world without you in it.

What would your younger self think of the person you’re becoming? At Christ in the City, formation looks like shared prayer before dawn, hard conversations around the dinner table, pursuing truth in a classroom, showing up on the streets and learning a someone’s name.

St. Francis left everything to belong wholly to Christ. On his feast we ask for the same grace: to love first, to love without keeping score, and to love until it hurts. St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

"Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with love." — St. Thérèse of Lisieux Every moment is part of God's plan and an opportunity to choose the good of the other. Today, choose love in every moment.

Every person you encounter is someone’s daughter or son, someone’s sister or brother. Each is deeply known and loved by God. Today, ask God to see your neighbors with His eyes.

Every moment presents an opportunity to be united with God. Begin your day by offering Him your prayers, works, joys, and sufferings.

Pray for your friends. The ones you’ve known for years, the ones you just met. You may have the words in moments when they don’t. Tag someone you’re praying for today, and we will join you in praying for them too 🙏
