Piracy isn't just hurting the sports and entertainment industry; it’s actively stealing from customers and driving them into bankruptcy.
A recent incident in Bengaluru highlights how a user looking for quick streaming options fell victim to a fake OTT application scam, losing over ₹1 Lakh to cybercriminals.
The user came across a promotional link for a mobile application called “Tuby” promising free access to premium OTT platforms. Post installing the app, cyber fraudsters accessed his bank accounts and siphoned off ₹1 Lakh through multiple transactions.
For illicit actors, unauthorized and cloned applications are incredibly lucrative. They use the guise of "free" or discounted premium content to trick users into downloading malicious software that siphons bank credentials and personal data.
At Copyright Integrity International, we know that fighting digital piracy is about more than just protecting content rights; it’s about protecting the entire digital ecosystem and ensuring consumer safety. Brand protection and anti-piracy enforcement are critical layers of modern cybersecurity.
