RIA Library is pleased to announce our participation in the CERL Internship Placement and Grant scheme for 2025. The RIA Library project aims to describe & sample provenance marks in the collection of Charles Haliday (1789–1866), for the Provenance Digital Archive (PDA) of CERL.

Rare example of a surviving charter by a medieval Irish King held by the @NLIreland - from the early 1180s it is a charter of Domnall Mór Ua Briain in which he styles himself 'Donaldus Obreyn, by the grace of God, king of Limerick'.

I heard the sad news at the weekend that the wood engraver Simon Brett died on 29 December. Well known for his his book illustrations (simonbrett-woodengraver.co.uk), he also cut my bookplate for me in 2005.

Particular highlights include: a fond farewell from the wonderful @LibraryLuce, who is leaving the committee after fifteen (15!) years of service; reflections on #RBSCG2024; incredible treasures in your collections; 'provenance information is hot'🔥; and much more!
