My 5 year old was hospitalized for some unusual swelling in the glands in this throat. The day he was admitted, he was supposed to recite his line in the school Thanksgiving play. He spent two months memorizing his line. Unfortunately, his situation was an emergency, so he was in the ER while his class was performing. He’ll also most likely be here through the holiday. As you can imagine, the little guy was pretty bummed yesterday. But the Lakeland High School football team saved the day. Before their playoff game last night, the team sent players around the pediatric ward to encourage the children. They brought gifts, which the kids loved, but man, the smile on this boy when he saw those players come in was priceless. Fast forward, the Dreadnaughts pulled out the victory on a last second interception by CJ Kresser (#26), which was one of the players that visited my son. This morning I told my son what happened and suggested CJ might have intercepted that ball for all the kids on his floor and he just couldn’t believe it. Fair to assume the Dreadnaughts have a life long fan. Thank you to LHS, the staff and the players. You made a little boys tough situation a little easier.
