@OlwynNZ Yes, too often we forget to get the materials out, and use 2D worksheets, pictorial, or just equations, abstract. I've used PRIME books for a few years now as my 'scope and sequence', but find I have to add a lot of materials practice on top.

@CJEvans77 Yes, if that’s what abstraction is. Singapore maths goes CPA. Concrete, pictorial then abstract. I’m finding my kiddos are needed HEAPS of concrete.

Fascinated and perturbed that our maths pedagogy is driven by ideology here in NZ. Furthermore, it is hard to find an evidence based pedagogy. Our maths specialist teachers are being served HUGE lashings of ideology. Why are they so scared of statistics? #evidencebasedlearning

As a teacher, what do you say to a parent who suggests you should 'rank' your students from top to bottom and then inform parents of their child's 'rank'. Apparently saying your child is 'at' or 'working above/below' expectation is not enough??
