CJFE stands with journalists under threat and defends the right to a free and independent press. The Journalists in Distress Fund provides emergency support to those facing threats, detention, or displacement.

2025 has been one of the deadliest years on record for journalists. RSF reports 67 killed, 503 detained, 135 missing, and 20 held hostage worldwide. Most were reporting in their own countries and targeted for their work.
