The Jews lived in the Holy Land for centuries, even before the Romans named the land “Palestina.” During the Ottoman occupation, Jews lived legally in Jerusalem and major cities in the Old Yishuv. Ottoman Jews were there long before the rise of the Zionist movement in Europe. Even during the British colonial rule, a.k.a. the British Mandate of Palestine, which started in 1917, the Jewish community prospered. Jews bought land legally and turned the desert into a paradise. When Britain returned the mandate to the UN, the Jews accepted the partition plan and agreed to establish a Jewish state next to an Arab state and live in peace with their Arab neighbors. But the Arab Muslims rejected it and repeatedly started wars to destroy the State of Israel and ethnically cleanse the Jews. They lost all the wars they started. Somehow, they managed to convince people in the West that Jews are “illegals” in the Land of Israel and that Israel has no right to exist. This is the big lie.
