We're getting some great feedback regarding Complete Car Builder 'Number One,' but if you haven't caught us in store or online yet there's still time to bag a first edition of the UK's newest #builtnotbought magazine with either a £25 UK subscription (completekitcar.co.uk/subscribe) or a single issue purchase in store or with free UK postage online: tinyurl.com/2hjxnbrp Inside you'll learn all about how the 'Build Your Own Sports Car for as Little as £250' Haynes Manual led to a whole movement in car building from the engineer/author Ron Champion himself... and find out all about the future of Locost Number One to boot. Beyond that we uncover the sheds that birthed the Lotus brand, meet a 300-plus BHP MG Midget missile, get to grips with a circuit ready hot rod, go autotesting, dive deep into our extensive build archive, drool over a one-off official Vanwall from the millennia and so much more. It's a packed mag, as our preview page – completecarbuilder.com/our-launch-iss… – proves.

207/? Today’s quick (sorry we’re super busy this week) #dailyarchivekitcar is the Vortex V2, which remains an interesting re-imagining of the Lotus Seven formula that continues to thrive in our scene. Developed by ex-Jaguar designer and racer Chris Greville-Smith, this forward thinking mid-engined sports car — is still like little else, despite it first hitting the scene over ten years ago. It certainly still turns heads… but what do you reckon to it? completekitcar.co.uk

206/? Another quick one we’re afraid as we’re busy featuring up-to-date kit cars… but we’re not ready to quit yet… so here is the lovely Apal GT (1961-1965), which came all the way from Liege, Belgium 🇧🇪. Beetle-based, but with the option of a very special Porsche-engined variant, the Apal G GT is basically a very nice classic kit car that we wanted to share with you as part of our #dailyarchivekitcar service. Enjoy! completekitcar.co.uk

205/? We’re pretty tired after a long day… so we thought we’d share a #dailyarchivekitcar that you should all know to save a bit of time. So here it is, the immortal Lotus Elan. Like many purchase tax dodgers from the pre-VAT days, the Elan was mainly available as turn-key car… and we don’t doubt this early example was built in Lotus’s old Cheshunt factory. A) because it’s a rare early 1500cc example and B) because it was none other than Jim Clark’s company car — some of you may remember the famous print advert it featured in. completekitcar.co.uk

204/? Nick Findeisen’s NCF marque made its name in the 1980s with square-edged would-be 4x4s like the Diamond 💎, before progressing onto genuinely capable off-roaders like the NCF Arctic below in the decades that followed. Based on the Suzuki Vitara, this spaceframed 4x4 proved to be quite the mud-plugger, as well as a rare looker that worked its ruled edges well. The model stayed around for a while, spending its latter years under FourWD, which took over NCF Arctic and Sahara production in 2015. Since then everything has gone quiet on the Arctic front, but we live in hope that we may hear more again soon. #dailyarchivekitcar completekitcar.co.uk

203/? TVR may have made its mark outside of our sphere, but the marque did get its start here by making many GT kits like the Grantura below from its Bristol Avenue works in Blackpool🎢. The Grantura was the start of something special for TreVoR Wilkinson’s brand, and would eventually go on to form the basis of Jack Griffith’s insane Ford Smallblock V8 engined… well… Griffith 200 (and later 400). This was a car that pretty much foreshadowed what the marque would become in its later, Peter Wheeler run, heyday of the 1980s and ’90s. Like many of ‘our brands’ that hit the big time, TVR moved away from kit offerings around 1973 — when VAT replaced purchase tax — but there’s still a lot of love for the marque here. #dailyarchivekitcar completekitcar.co.uk
