Fathers Day weekend. An excitable sciatic nerve and working alongside my son. pretty typical middle class father stuff. Pretty blessed really. Getting our youth involved in the work place and building investment in themselves would go a long way to help mental health. We should be encouraging their relationship with the workforce and responsibility.

Governor Ferguson just announced a statewide school phone ban as his top legislative priority, citing massive student distraction...which we agree is a very real problem. But no one is talking about the Chromebooks. Washington students are on 1:1 school-issued devices running platforms that collect their data every single day. And earlier this year, Governor Ferguson signed HB 2225 (a bill CLW opposed), marketed as the strongest AI chatbot protection law in the country, with a carve-out that explicitly exempts educational tools. The AI a student interacts with at home is regulated, but the AI embedded in their school-issued device is not. CLA has the full breakdown👇

Voted YES on HB 2368 (2024) - Assisting Illegal Aliens. ~ Directs the Dept. of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to support refugees and immigrants in Washington by managing the Refugee Resettlement Plan, offering services such as cash, medical assistance, employment help, and English instruction. By definition, a criminal act—should not be granted sanctuary or residency in Washington, nor should they be eligible for state benefits funded by taxpayers. Furthermore, medical assistance and social welfare are not legitimate government functions. These expenditures unjustly use taxpayer money, violating the Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment. Voted YES on HB 1541 (2024) - Diversity Mandate. ~ This legislation essentially forbids agencies from picking the best candidates available for positions while pitting Americans against each other. Voted YES on HB 1170 (2023) - Climate Change Response. ~ Investing taxpayer dollars in creating a climate change response strategy is a complete waste of money. States should not be buying into the climate-change agenda. The White House came out with a new Counterterrorism Strategy last week that looks strikingly similar to Washington State's Domestic Violent Extremism Task Force. Republicans targeting "left wing extremism" Democrats targeting "right wing extremism" The CT Strategy identifies 3 groups: 🔴narcoterrorists and transnational gangs 🔴legacy Islamist terrorists 🔴"violent left-wing extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists." The structure of the CT Strategy and WA's Domestic Violent Extremism TF are identical - pre-crime mapping, broad with no definitions, mapping Americans based on political ideologies. 🧵
