Meeting old friends & strengthening common commitments towards energy transition pathways. Met Geoffrey Pyatt & discussed collaborations across the entire energy spectrum. Our association goes back a long time. He was in @USAndIndia when I was a JS on Americas Desk in 1992-93.

Other regulatory improvements include PARIVESH, an online portal to speed up environmental approvals, & a move to accept more documents from contractors on a self-certification basis. DGH, is also pushing easier data access, virtual data rooms & a new data repository in Houston.

Reforms including royalty discounts, zero-revenue sharing for Category II & III basins, windfall revenue sharing, capped govt revenue share, and increased gas marketing & pricing freedom have resonated well with majors.

New area access & geological prospectivity has opened up over 9.1 lakh sq kms of no-go areas, particularly frontier blocks with limited well/data coverage & untested deepwater for exploration. India's data sharing, fiscal terms & policies have also evoked global confidence.

“We now believe the risk/reward balance in deepwater exploration is sufficiently tempting to bring in the industry’s big players” It concludes with “We would argue that India’s projection of ‘alignment’ on wanting more exploration, from the PM down, is particularly advantageous”

Catching up with old friends. Received my friend Rami, now Lord @RamiRanger CBE. He is a prominent member of the Indian community in Britain whom I have known from my London days when I was posted at @HCI_London as the Deputy High Commissioner from 1988 to 1991.

India is all set to emerge as the hub for #GreenHydrogen. Our #transition into green hydrogen & other alternative fuels will be driven by our petroleum & natural gas companies. Reviewed several ongoing projects at a meeting with senior officials, CMDS & others today.

I was happy to inaugurate the state-of-the-art & accessible Manju Bharat Ram Block which houses modern classrooms, offices & residential space for students & also saw the various existing facilities in the campus. It is a flourishing example of what a caring society can do.

Many students & even older people were learning livelihood skills like candle making, stitching, gift bag making etc & were very happy with their immense contribution to the society.

God may not have bestowed them the power to see, but they were nevertheless not short of a vision for the future. They were clear about life goals. Some wanted to be teachers, singers, musicians, one kid wanted to be a social worker & another a director.
