The Governor attended a dinner commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the sinking of the 2/3 Australian Hospital Ship Centaur and the lives of the 268, doctors, nurses, patients and crew who perished. We Will Remember Them.

The Governor attended the 80th Annual Commemorative Service of the sinking of the 2/3 Australian Hospital Ship Centaur, delivering a reading and laying the first wreath. We Will Remember Them.

We were joined last night by Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM @QldGovernor at the United Services Club for the 80th Anniversary dinner commemorating 80 years since the sinking of the 2/3 AHS Cetaur Hospital Ship and 75years since establishment of the CMFN.

We are so pleased to announce that the 21st Queensland Greats Awards presented June 8 at the Queensland Art Gallery by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk included our own Pixie Annat MBE OAM seen her with her great friend Kay McGrath at the presentation night

4am May 14th 1943 2/3 AHS Centaur was torpedoed off the coast of Queensland. 268 died including 11 of the 12 nurses. Today we were joined by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey and family of those lost to remembered them. @QldGovernor

His Excellency has today attended the Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses memorial Service to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the sinking of the 2/3 AHS Centaur on the 14th May 1943

The AHS Centaur background. Initially a comfortable passenger and freight ship, the AHS Centaur was converted to a hospital ship when war was declared. (Resourced with 900 blankets; 340 mattresses (hair); 400 pillows (hair); 600 pillows (feather); and 3000 sheets

On 13 Feb1948, QLD citizens established a Memorial to commemorate the splendid services rendered by our Nurses in World Wars I and II, on the Home Front". (source: Madonna Grehan, 2018). This the 1948 Appeal Badge. @CMFN1943 still fund raise today stay tuned for our event
