We are deeply grateful to QuikTrip and the Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Police Foundation for their leadership and unwavering commitment to helping CMPD serve this community with excellence. This is more than a financial contribution—it is a statement of confidence in the work our employees do every day and the future we are building together.” - Chief Patterson See full media release here: charlottenc.gov/cmpd/News-Info… @QuikTrip @CMPFoundation

"Our job is not to change data ... it is simply to take that data to perform analysis, meaning to extract as much useful information out of it as we can and then create information products out of it to help people to make decisions, to reduce crime and disorder and to make people feel safer." Hear from Robert Broughton, of our Crime Analysis and Data Analytics Division, about what they do, how they work and why their work is so important.

🐑 SHEAR EXCITEMENT: Speedy Sheep Apprehended Yesterday morning, officers responded to a baaad situation near Briarwood Academy: one extremely fast, extremely opinionated sheep on the lam. After leading officers on a scenic tour of the park, the neighborhood, and nearly straight into traffic, the sheep was finally cornered with the help of a CMPD patrol officer. Teamwork makes the dream work — especially when the “suspect” has four legs and zero interest in cooperating. The sheep is now safe at Animal Care & Control on Byrum Drive, enjoying a well‑deserved timeout in the barn. With no ID or microchip, this woolly wanderer is officially a lost sheep. If you’re missing a sheep (or know someone whose backyard suddenly looks one sheep short), please reach out to @animals_clt

“Under no circumstances, should you ever pass a stopped school bus.” Yesterday morning, a school bus rider was struck when a driver failed to stop for the bus at a stop. University City officers quickly made the arrest of the driver after they returned to the scene. This is a reminder of what happens when drivers choose not to pay attention to their surroundings. Please help us protect our children by watching closely for bus stops as you commute. For more information, please refer to report number: 20260312-0652-00.
