Travel in Chennai Metro for ‘IPL 2026’ with exclusive Sponsored Metro Rides Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is pleased to announce its continued collaboration with Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) to provide exclusive sponsored Metro Rail services for spectators attending IPL 2026 matches at Chennai. As part of this initiative, IPL 2026 League Match No. 18 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC), scheduled on Saturday, 11th April 2026, will be supported with sponsored metro rides and extended special train services for match attendees. Cricket enthusiasts with valid match tickets only will be provided with this sponsored ride. The valid match ticket will enable a round-trip journey between their chosen (Operational) Metro Stations and Government Estate Metro Station. Cricket enthusiasts can scan the match ticket (both digital & Physical) tickets at the Automatic Gates. These valid match tickets can be used for one round trip (2 Entry & 2 Exit) for smooth entry and exit.  Extended Special Train Service from Government Estate metro Station After the regular train service for the upcoming league match at the venue (between CSK and DC) on 11th April 2026: - Last train from Government Estate metro will depart at 01:00 Hrs. (after the match day) towards Wimco Nagar Depot Metro Station as well as towards Airport Metro Station.  - Passengers travelling towards Green Line stations (Corridor-2) shall interchange only at Chennai Central (during the special train services.)  - Passenger entry into Government Estate Metro Station will be restricted 10 minutes before respective last trains.  This initiative reflects CMRL’s continued commitment to innovation, commuter convenience, and sustainable urban mobility. By integrating major sporting events with public transport, CMRL aims to reduce traffic congestion and encourage the use of eco‑friendly mass transit. CMRL invites other event organizers to collaborate and partner with us in promoting public transportation and enhancing the overall travel experience in Chennai.

Tonight (03-04-2026) Extended Special Train services Will be available from Chennai Central Metro Station to St. Thomas Mount Metro Station, from Government Estate Metro Station to Wimco Nagar Depot Station and Airport Metro Station. However, there are No return trains from St. Thomas Mount Metro Station to Chennai Central Metro Station or from Airport Metro Station to Wimco Nagar Depot Metro Station.

Permanent Closure of B4 Entry at Nandanam Metro Station Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) hereby informs all passengers and the general public that, due to ongoing Phase-II construction & Integration works at Nandanam Metro Station, the B4 entrance (towards BSNL Office) will be permanently closed with effect from 23rd March 2026.  The closure of existing B4 entry at Nandhanam metro station is essential to facilitate critical infrastructure development and integration works being carried out as part of the Phase-II project, ensuring long-term improvement in connectivity, passenger convenience, and operational efficiency. Further, it is informed that access to the existing Phase-I Nandhanam metro station shall be available through the upcoming metro station entrance opening under Phase-II.  Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and use the alternate nearby entrances, namely A2 and A3 (located on the same side as B4) and B1, B2, and B3 (located on the opposite side of B4), all of which are conveniently situated along Anna Salai. These entrances are fully operational and capable of handling passenger movement. To ensure smooth navigation, adequate directional signage and guidance boards have been installed at prominent locations in and around the station premises. Passengers may also approach station staff for assistance in case of any difficulty. CMRL is committed to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring a safe and seamless travel experience for all commuters. CMRL regrets the inconvenience caused by this permanent closure and seeks the continued understanding and cooperation of passengers.
