Make a Commitment to Carers #CarersWeek Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board (CSAB) launched a webinar in 2025, based on information originally put together by Cumbria & Pan Lancashire Safeguarding Adults Boards. The webinar was made in response to learning from Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs), to help raise awareness of how carers can be best supported and to highlight the challenges they face. Since this webinar was launched, CSAB have commissioned further reviews which have identified and recommended learning in relation to unpaid carers. The Commitment to Carers Webinar is on the Carers section of the CSAB website - follow the link: cumbriasab.org.uk/i-work-adults/…

Get support if you care for someone #CarersWeek2026! @CarersUK Carers Week is the ideal time to focus on the contribution made by carers, and how important they are in their local communities. Sometimes carers can find it challenging to take care of their own wellbeing whilst looking after someone. The impact that caring can have on all aspects of life should not be underestimated. 💚Carers can find local support services through organisations like Carers UK and Carers Trust, which offer directories to locate nearby carer groups, replacement care services, and community resources tailored to individual needs. 💜Age UK provides practical support for older carers, including home help, handyperson services, and respite care, allowing carers to take breaks, while ensuring their loved ones are cared for. ✅Your local council may also be able to provide you and the person you care for with support or signpost you to support available within your area. You can find further information by searching for your local council on the Gov.UK website. Carers in Cumbria can find information on who to contact to get support on the Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board website👉cumbriasab.org.uk/i-am-member-pu…

Carers Charter launch in celebration of Carers Week #CarersWeek Cumberland Council have launched their new Carers Charter, highlighting the vital role unpaid carers play. Unpaid carers are essential partners in care and the Charter sets out how their contributions will be better recognised, their experiences listened to, and how they will be supported throughout their caring journey. Built around three key principles, Recognise, Learn and Collaborate, the Charter strengthens the work alongside carers, families and partner organisations. It’s a living commitment that will continue to develop through feedback and lived experience. You can read the Charter by clicking the following link: #lgd-guides__title" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cumberland.gov.uk/health-and-soc…

Building Carer Friendly Communities #CarersWeek2026! A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, addiction, or who needs extra help as they grow older. It isn’t someone who volunteers or is employed to provide support. Many people may not see themselves as carers and find it difficult to see their caring role as separate from the relationship they have with the person for whom they care for. The caring role might include: ✅Helping someone with their personal care ✅Meal preparation ✅Dealing with bills and financial matters ✅Managing day to day appointments such as GP and hospital appointments ✅Collecting prescriptions ✅Administering or prompting medication ✅Cleaning, laundry or shopping tasks ✅Emotional support and reassurance ✅Making sure someone is safe You can find local support in the area you live by following the link to the Cares UK Website: carersuk.org/help-and-advic…

We’re proud to be supporting #CarersWeek 2026! This year’s theme is about Building Carer Friendly Communities.. ..What is a carer friendly community? A carer friendly community is a place, space or organisation that values carers and does something practical to support them by identifying carers, listening and responding to their experiences so that they are not left to cope alone. What makes carer friendly communities?.. Carer friendly communities are places, spaces, services and community groups where unpaid carers are recognised, understood, and valued. They make support part of everyday life ensuring carers get the opportunities and help they need. They are made up of people who: ✅recognise unpaid carers and the vital role they play ✅understand the realities and impact of caring ✅take action to identify and support carers in practical ways ✅empower carers to live fulfilling lives When communities work together in this way, carers have fairer opportunities and can lead better lives. Find out more information about #CarersWeek and how you or your organisation can be involved, follow the link:👉carersweek.org
