The ads have become so normal and primary that we are conditioned to be dependent. For example why do most of us look to rent as the 1st option when it comes to housing? Why don’t we grow some of the food we eat?
Some of the most vital things to day to day life have been replaced as product ads. Who learns to buy land? Who learns to build and buy homes? Who learns to grow food and purify water?
Change your perspective of the world around you. Find the FUNCTION and create new goals that make sense with where you are trying to go. Yes is gonna feel and look strange.
There aren’t any relatives we can talk to about independence and autonomy. In Baltimore we live in a constant psychotic paranoia of paying bills and making rent.
Owning a home gives your the freedom to create, breathe and think. Create a family, create business, explore the world. Because no is about to kick you out. This is a new concept for Blacks. We have no reference point for freedom and autonomy.
The numbers never add up here’s why. No job in Baltimore pays enough to buy the house you want. So the trick play is get a job that can afford a rental but now you are stuck working for someone the rest of your life HOMELESS because you don’t own a home.
This looks different depending on the circumstance for each family. Baltimore is a poverty city so it takes very CREATIVE ways to generate money there. But employment and rent should never be the goal. Yes it can be a tactic but the goal is ownership and freedom.
Here’s what makes sense with the FUNCTION of our world. Do not apply for a job. As children we must build companies while we are still living with our parents. Live with our parents until we can afford to BUY a house.
But we are told that is the way to go. We are told getting a job and renting a apt is success because that’s the commercial that’s the advertisement of the Baltimore demographic. Employment is the business, rental properties is the business and the children are being solicited.
Here’s where my ideas may differ from everyone else’s. Working at a job that you think is guaranteed for the rest of your life and renting an apt to raise a family is not the goal at all. That is failure. It’s highly unstable it’s highly volitile and completely irresponsible.
But from the employee’s perspective, the young black kid in Baltimore, you make just enough money to RENT an apt maybe RENT a car and work at that company for the rest of your life.
$10 an hour is not enough to buy a house and raise a family period. So why even make applying for a job an option? This goes back to being solicited. Change your perspective.
Now here’s why Blacks in Baltimore need to re-calibrated our minds. Our calculator is completely off. Our priorities are completely off. If you find a job let’s say $10 a hour. You are now on a treadmill in hell going nowhere not even fast. Why no one tells us this growing up idk
If you’re like me, a lot of time applying for jobs while I was in college looked like me searching on Craigalist day after day applying for whatever that was available. The problem is that none of this makes any sense in comparison to how our world functions.
Now let’s look at Baltimore jobs as another example. Most of us are told in high school to make a resume and apply for jobs and go to college etc. But not much detail go into the function of employment and all the moving parts.
So what are the schools doing? What’s the function? Outside of being a business, Baltimore schools operate as a mandated day care system for children while their parents are at work.
