@eu_echo and @SwissDevCoop have confirmed multi-million Euro funding to support life‑saving assistance to people in #Somalia impacted by the continuing drought. The Concern-led Somali Cash Consortium aims to assist 195,000 people to meet their most urgent basic needs as the continuing drought impacts an estimated 6.5 million people. At a time when international funding is being cut, the EU and SDC support reflects a continued commitment towards principled, timely and people‑centred humanitarian assistance in Somalia. From Subsistence Farming to Resilient Livelihoods: How #HanaanoProgramme Is Driving Nutrition and Income Transformation in Rhamu, Mandera. In Rhamu, Mandera, Kulmiye Mother-to-Mother Support Group (MtMSG) is redefining farming pathways, transitioning from small-scale production into a resilience-driven livelihood model. What began with vegetables, maize, cowpeas, and watermelon has expanded into papaya cultivation, deliberately diversifying crops to strengthen household resilience, improve food security, and enhance dietary diversity. This is more than production; it’s a strategic shift toward sustainable income and improved nutrition outcomes. Through the Hanaano Programme implemented by @RACIDA_Ngo in partnership with @Concern and funded by @Irish_Aid , MtMSGs are proving to be high-impact platforms, equipping women with the skills, knowledge, and agency to move from subsistence to sustainable livelihoods.

Most of these deaths are preventable with proven, low-cost interventions and access to quality health care.
