@CPATaxTeam Orig post did not say client notified of leaving. Completely diff scenario. It’s ludicrous to reach out for authorization from decades long clients when they always go on ext. We have enough work in a compressed filing season as it is. Logic must prevail over dumb rules!

This isn't a late to submit client. This is a $50k/year client who we worked with to determine proper tax estimates for their trusts and personal return. Then, when we went to file a properly documented extension, another firm (who he informed in January by the way) went and extended the returns as $0 extensions. You do realize that's not only a headache for us but also a problem for the client if the IRS would deem the extension to be improperly filed since they were blank?

The sheer annoyance of filing an extension for a new client and their prior tax pro filed one already. Tell us you don't talk to your clients before filing unauthorized extensions without telling us... #TaxTwitter
