I'm gonna rant cuz I feel like ranting. The reason I come across as aggressive when people hate Shadria is because you NEED to be misinterpreting Shadow in order to find it disgusting. Nearly every single Shadria anti is a massive hypocrite without fail. It's so annoying to me. They freak out over the age gap but ship Shadamy, which has the exact same gap. Except Maria is way smarter and more emotionally mature than Amy ever was. Let's just ignore that I guess. They're the same people who peddle the "Sonic Team erased the ages" misinformation too, so why does age suddenly matter when it's Shadow and Maria? They complain about the "like siblings" line but are totally fine with Silvaze, which uses the same descriptor. They completely ignore that this is a Japanese franchise and twist their bond into literal blood relation instead of "these two are insanely close." They are not related. That's why all the Shadow and Maria sibling fan art is wildly out of character. Do you stroke your sibling's face and stare into their eyes like that? I sure hope not. Or they'll worship Sallicole even though the author originally wrote them as straight-up mother and daughter… but I guess that gets a pass because it's gay. Then they'll call Shadria "bestiality" when Shadow's entire story tells you to think the opposite. The manga shows Shadow actually CRYING when he's called an animal. He loses the will to live when he thinks Maria said it. How can you claim to be a fan and still reduce him to that? His whole arc is about being treated as less than human his entire life while having the most human emotions imaginable, and that's exactly why so many of us connected with him in the first place. It genuinely pisses me off how these people miss the point so badly, especially when they claim to be fans of Shadow. If they're fans of Shadow, why are they doing the same thing his villains tried to do? You know, erase his feelings for Maria in order to get him to do what they wanted instead. Most of Sonic Twitter has the media literacy of a toddler. I wouldn't be surprised if they had trouble reading all of this.
