Brazilian independence fighter Tiradentes is hanged, drawn and quartered #OTD in 1792. His head, as with other parts of his corpse, was meant to be displayed as a warning against revolutionary activities, but was lost.

During his penultimate day alive, the Red Baron shoots down his final two victims #OTD in 1918.

Mae West is found guilty of “obscenity and corrupting the morals of youth” with her play, Sex, #OTD in 1927. She is sentenced to ten days in prison and fined.
