Amazing day of learning at our History Day. Our 8th grade students presented projects on “Breaking Barriers” that they researched with Mr. Topping and Mr. Natale. We were blown away by the quality of the work and presentations. Thanks to Ms. Donohue for coordinating the event!
Victoria Barriola, Henry Dam, Jenna Schetty and Natalie Schnurman from our Advanced Science Research I course, under the guidance of their teacher Sheila Mauriello, won the Rookie Award for their science research paper in Northwell Health’s Medical Marvels Competition. Congrats!
Valentine’s Day celebration, with 7th gr. Spanish classes who participated in a collaborative activity called “El Amigo Secreto” (Secret Friend), a Mexican tradition for children on Valentine’s day. Students used vocabulary related to kindness to write notes of praise for friends

This past Saturday Arnaud Lamy & Matthew LaCapra won 6th & 9th place out of 30 in J.V. Lincoln-Douglas Debate; Matthew Guirguis won 4th out of 18 in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate; all three fully qualified for the NY State Speech and Debate Championships, April 25-26 at Hofstra.

Great crowd at the second annual Senior Citizens Dinner Theater! Out student council students served and chatted with our local seniors while they dined on delicious food donated by Garden City Pizza and Mario’s of Syosset. A fun meal before going in to see “Pippin”.

Student Government and Advisors, Mrs. Segura and Ms. Georgiou, help with with HIHI (Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative) throughout the winter months. They help to setup cots, provide items such as warm socks and hats, make lunches and make and serve dinner to the homeless.
Before the holiday break, our own high school students were trained as docents for the Heckscher Museum. They were able to then practice their skills when our West Side School 3rd grade students visited to be led by our own high school docents. What a great way to give back!
At last Saturday's speech tournament at Half Hollow Hills East HS, Sophie Labuda took first place in JV Oral Interpretation, earning a half-qualification to the State Tournament. Thomas Tsekerides placed second in Program of Oral Interpretation. Congratulations!
