What does it mean for women to not just exist online, but to shape the digital world itself? At @CEQUIN2009 - Centre for Equity & Inclusion’s International Women’s Day webinar, “Reclaiming the Future: Women, AI & Digital Rights,” Jyoti Vadehra from Centre for Social Research India was among the speakers driving this important conversation forward. Because the reality is clear. Technology is not neutral. The same inequalities we see offline are showing up in algorithms, platforms, and digital spaces. From bias in AI systems to the growing risks of online harm, the digital world is reflecting the structures we live within. But the conversation didn’t stop at risks. It pushed toward something more important. Power. Who builds technology? Who designs systems? Who decides what is safe, fair, and visible? And where are women in these decisions? The discussion called for moving beyond protection and toward participation. Toward a future where women and young people are not just navigating digital spaces, but leading, creating, and redefining them. Because a truly inclusive digital future will not happen by default. It has to be built, intentionally, collectively, and with gender justice at its core.

At #SheSparks2026, CSR Director @ranjanakumari spoke on care work, what it costs women, and what it costs everyone when policy continues to ignore it. "Women subsidize the economy with their time. If care stopped for one day, the economy would stop with it." The point she made is not a new one, but it remains largely unaddressed: gender equality at work cannot happen while inequality at home goes untouched. Care responsibilities still fall disproportionately on women, whether in rural households or urban ones, and neither workplaces nor public policy have seriously reckoned with that. Grateful to @herstoryYS for bringing together 800+ delegates and 20+ speakers for conversations that deserve far more space than they usually get.

At #SheSparks2026, @ranjanakumari, Director of the Centre for Social Research, offered a powerful reminder: women’s work is not scarce, it is invisible. While statistics say about one-third of women are in the labour force, the reality tells a different story. On average, women spend five hours a day on unpaid domestic work, five times more than men. When economists estimate the value of this unpaid care work, the number is staggering: nearly $10 trillion. This is the care economy, which acts as the foundation of every economy. That’s larger than many major industries combined, yet it doesn’t appear in GDP. Recognising women’s care work isn’t symbolic. It’s essential for economic equality, stronger families, and the future of India. @SharmaShradha

Young people are growing up in a digital landscape that's changing faster than ever. We are gathering the experiences of youth across the globe, and what we're hearing is shaping the path ahead. At CSR, we believe real solutions to the challenges of Al start with listening to and learning from those experiencing it firsthand. what it means to them, how it's shaping their lives, and what they think needs to change. Our goal is simple: to co-create solutions with youth, not for them. If you're a young person who wants to make your voice heard, or want to partner with us, reach out. Let's take this conversation across the country and around the world. A special thank you to COR Sandbox and QS Donal for helping us curate these experiences. @ranjanakumari @GoI_MeitY @SecretaryMEITY
