Big news for Canada’s sport shooters and hunters: The Supreme Court of Canada will hear challenges to the Liberal government’s sweeping firearms ban, including the AR-15 and Ruger Mini-14. This is a critical moment — not just for gun owners, but for every Canadian concerned about government overreach and property rights. Law-abiding Canadians have always followed the law, no matter how arbitrary the rules may seem. Now, the country’s highest court will weigh in: Can the government confiscate legally acquired property from responsible citizens, with no evidence of wrongdoing? Please visit CBC to read the full article. #CSSA #FirearmsRights #SupremeCourt #cdnpoli

We were pleased to welcome Blaine Calkins, Member of Parliament for Ponoka—Didsbury, Alberta, to the CSSA booth at this year's Toronto Sportsmen's Show. It’s always encouraging to see elected officials take an active interest in the shooting sports community and show their support for responsible firearms ownership. Mr. Calkins has been a strong advocate for the rights of law-abiding firearms owners, and we truly appreciate his ongoing dedication to preserving our sporting heritage. If you’re at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show this year, make sure to stop by the CSSA booth and say hello!

Where are your tax dollars going? The cost of the federal firearms confiscation program (ASFCP) has now crested $1 billion—with taxpayers still on the hook. According to government documents, Public Safety Canada and the RCMP are set to spend at least $1B on the program by the end of 2026—more than double the original highest estimates. Yet, with just 42,000 firearms projected to be surrendered and a compliance rate as low as 2-4%, the program is shaping up to cost Canadian taxpayers over $24,000 per gun collected. For context, the infamous long-gun registry—widely seen as a failure—cost about twice as much, but had over ten times the participation. As costs continue to rise and participation remains staggeringly low, we have to ask: Is this really about public safety, or is it just political theatre? #cdnpol #taxes #firearms #cdnpoli #ASFCP #CSSA

Big change coming to Saskatchewan’s Firearms Office! Robert Freberg is retiring as Firearms Commissioner on March 31 after years of dedicated service. He’ll be succeeded by Blaine Beaven—a Métis lawyer, Canadian Armed Forces reservist, and firearms policy expert. Freberg helped build a strong foundation for responsible firearms ownership and public safety in SK, and Beaven is set to keep that momentum going. Congrats to both on this next chapter! #Saskatchewan #Firearms #PublicSafety

Saskatchewan is standing up for responsible gun owners! The province is proposing new legislation to let licensed firearms owners apply for exemption certificates, allowing them to keep their legally acquired property—even as Ottawa pushes its confiscation agenda. Premier Scott Moe made it clear: no one will be coming to your door to take your guns. We applaud this strong stance in defence of our rights and the fair treatment of law-abiding Canadians. 🇨🇦 #NoConfiscation #StandUpForGunOwners #CSSA

cssa-cila.org/who-has-the-au… The law is clear: Provincial Chief Firearms Officers (CFOs) issue and revoke firearms licences—not Ottawa. With new confiscation deadlines approaching, it’s time to demand answers. If a licensed gun owner refuses to comply, what specific actions will each CFO take? No more dodging. No more vague statements. CFOs, step up and tell us—what’s your plan? For every firearms owner and anyone who believes in real accountability, now’s the moment to demand clarity. Let’s get the facts, not spin. 👉 Click the link to read more and join the conversation. #CSSA #CanadianLaw #Firearms #Accountability #CivicEngagement

The Edmonton Journal’s Lorne Gunter reports that the federal Liberal gun buyback program has become far more expensive and less effective than anticipated. A pilot in Cape Breton collected only 25 firearms at a cost of nearly $6,000 each, mostly due to administrative expenses. The national rollout has pushed the per-gun cost up to about $24,000, with total expenditures nearing $800 million—comparable to major city police budgets. Many police forces and provinces have refused to participate, complicating the program’s implementation. Read the full article at Edmonton Journal.

Ottawa is promising the biggest gun grab in Canadian history—yet they won’t tell Canadians how they plan to pull it off. Right now, you’re protected by an amnesty that ends October 30th, 2026. After that? The government expects thousands of hunters and sport shooters to hand over their firearms, but even police forces across the country are saying they don’t have the resources or the manpower to enforce these confiscations. Ottawa’s plan is confusion, chaos, and fear. They want you to comply, but they can’t even say how—or what happens if you don’t. Law-abiding Canadians are left in limbo, with rights and traditions on the chopping block, while politicians dodge the hard questions. The CSSA is calling out this reckless, unworkable policy for what it is: an attack on responsible gun owners and a massive waste of public trust. We will not sit quietly while Ottawa gambles with our rights and our future. Now’s the time to push back. Demand answers. Refuse to be intimidated. Stand up for your rights—before bureaucrats and politicians decide your future for you. #CSSA #GunGrab #FightBack #ProtectOurRights #NoPlanNoTrust

🇨🇦 Big congratulations to William Gee—aka Whistlin’ Will—from British Columbia, who just claimed FIRST PLACE OVERALL at the 2026 End of Trail, the World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting, held at Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Arizona! The hypocrisy couldn’t be clearer. Nathalie Provost—longtime anti-gun activist, now Liberal Secretary of State for Nature—posing with a dead plant in her government office. The symbolism? Decay, neglect, and failure. Behind her, the scene tells the truth: stacks of “Gun Ban” documents, headlines about firearm restrictions, and the ever-present division she’s helped fuel in this country. For years, Provost has pushed a personal crusade against lawful Canadian gun owners. Now, as an MP, she’s using her platform to double down on failed policies that do nothing to keep communities safe and only punish responsible firearms owners. Canadians deserve evidence-based solutions, not personal vendettas and political theatre. We’re tired of being scapegoated for photo ops and sound bites. Enough is enough. Stand up for your rights. #StopTheGunBans #CdnPoli #CSSA #NoMoreScapegoats

The Canadian Shooting Sports Association applauds the nation’s capital’s police force for standing up and refusing to take part in the federal government’s misguided gun grab. When even Ottawa’s own officers—the ones who know the realities of public safety on the ground—want nothing to do with this policy, it says everything Canadians need to hear. This isn’t a solution, it’s an out-of-touch political move that fails to address real crime and ignores the advice of those tasked with keeping us safe. It’s time for Canada to focus on evidence-based policies, not headline-chasing legislation. #CSSA #cdnpoli #gunrights #publicsafety #OttawaPolice

A recent article by Daniel Fritter / Calibre Magazine reveals Canada’s gun confiscation program is costing taxpayers over $25,000 for every firearm declared—while less than 6% of banned guns have actually been declared. With $800 million already spent and most provinces and police forces opting out, the program’s administrative costs are over 13x the average payout per gun. Even police chiefs say resources should go to real crime, not paperwork. Head over to the Calibre website to read the full article (Source: Daniel Fritter / Calibre Magazine)

We’re not surprised—and we’re not sorry. Ottawa’s gun confiscation scheme is crashing and burning, just as we predicted. After all the wasted money, all the political grandstanding, and all the empty promises, what do they have to show for it? A glitchy “declaration portal” and a pathetic 6.4% compliance rate. Even the police have said “no thanks.” Canadians know a bad idea when they see one. Prime Minister Carney and M.P. Nathalie Provost can keep refreshing that portal, but Canadians aren’t buying it. Law-abiding firearms owners aren’t playing along—and why should they? This was never about public safety. It was always about scoring political points and punishing responsible citizens. We’re proud to see Canadians standing up for their rights and refusing to be bullied by a broken, unworkable program. This is proof that grassroots resistance works. Keep speaking out. Keep pushing back. And let’s keep showing Ottawa that we won’t be walked over. #StopTheConfiscation #CSSA #ProudCanadianGunOwners #PortalFail #GrassrootsWorks

The federal Conservatives are calling for an independent inquiry into the tragic Tumbler Ridge, B.C. tragedy, aiming to uncover the facts and prevent future incidents. They want answers on firearm access, mental health, the police response, victim support, and even the role of AI in the tragedy. The Conservatives emphasize that a thorough, independent review is vital to ensure this never happens again and that any recommendations can be acted upon. For the full story, head over to the CBC website.
