Great presentation @AABiologists Biocontrol & IPM by @CSV_Price, talking about her research @HarperAdamsUni exploring the impact of soil moisture on aggregation behaviour of the grey field slug.

How do you currently control slugs on your farm? Has this changed in recent years & if so, why? Have you tried biological control agents such as nematodes or predatory beetles to control slugs (or other pests)? What were the results? Get involved 👇 thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?thre…

Delighted to share the latest paper from the @HarperAdamsUni Applied Entomology Group: ‘Temperature and time of season are the predominant drivers of cabbage stem flea beetle, Psylliodes chrysocephala, arrival at oilseed rape crops’. Our study investigated the environmental factors influencing the migration of cabbage stem flea beetles (CSFB) to oilseed rape crops. Using data from 19 sites over three years, we found that: 🌡️ Temperature is the main environmental driver of CSFB migration 📅 Time of season plays a crucial role in migration patterns 🌬️ Other factors like wind speed, rainfall, and solar radiation have minimal impact Our findings will hopefully help farmers better predict CSFB arrival and optimise their pest management strategies, potentially reducing crop losses and improving oilseed rape yields. The German translation of mine and Benjamin's ant book just dropped. Cannot read a word of it but it feels exciting seeing it in another language.
