In a freezing, dark apartment, Arina (3) has lived without heating or electricity for more than three days. In –15°C Kyiv, her family walks to a “Point of Invincibility” for warmth and hot tea. At the tents, children find calm and games while parents recharge devices.
“She was born just after the war began — you can count the war by her years,” says her mother. This winter is the hardest yet: more attacks, longer outages.
Following the attacks on Kyiv, UNICEF mobilized large generators to central heating stations to prevent systems from freezing and shutting down. This rapid response builds on months of winter preparedness across Ukraine thanks to @EUDelegationUA @NorwayAmbUKR @NorwayMFA @GermanyinUA @DanishMFA @DKAMBinUkraine & the US Government.
Children and families in Ukraine cannot get through this winter alone — continued support is vital.
