@BookOfEli_NFL Pass on the 5th year option. You let him play this year out. After this year, you either extend him or let him walk for a compensatory pick in a deep draft.

The #Packers have a few days to pick up Lukas Van Ness' 5th year option... Should they?

@zachkruse2 What Watson brings, no other WR on the roster can do. He's their clear #1. The entire offense changes when he's off the field, in a very bad way. It *never* made sense to draft a WR on day 2 when GB had several excellent ones already on the roster.

Jayden Reed extension probably makes it less likely that the Packers take a WR with a meaningful pick. They'll eventually extend Watson. That's 4 guys they are invested in past 2026. Signed Skyy Moore. Have Bo Melton at a reasonable price for next 1-2 years. Don't need one.

@BookOfEli_NFL 🎯 Best article I've seen on the Packers draft. You've identified GBs needs perfectly and didn't fall into the WR in round 2 trap. If I had one need to add, GB needs to develop a well rounded TE #2 behind Kraft. Doubtful Musgrave is on the roster next year.

@nickolson1 @RossUglem As a BPA-only exercise this is interesting to see where the value will be in different rounds of the draft. In reality, I wouldn't hate an OL being drafted in R2. All 5 of our OL starters have question marks (Tom = post-injury), but I hope they wait on a WR until R5 or later.

@RossUglem Very offense heavy. Interesting. I think going OL with our 1st pick would be disappointing. Wouldn't contribute much in 26 likely. Id rather take swing at oline on day 3

@MDQue_33 But also... the Packers should fix the OL so he's not pressured on 40% of his dropbacks.

@MrWhiskey365 @BookOfEli_NFL Right there with you. GB bringing in only 2 OL for visits is probably why there isn't more talk about it. Losing Kraft should not have been so devastating. Poor run and pass blocking were the main reasons the offense flailed last year.

@BookOfEli_NFL This is the first post I have seen about this. I don’t understand how people are just glazing over arguably the worst position group on this team last season. You can blame injuries but then it proved how inept the depth was. Now with Jenkins and Walker gone it’s worse…

Every time I think about the #Packers draft needs I wind up back at the OL. You can argue that at every single position along the line there are real concerns. Morgan 1st year starter, Banks was bad, Rhyan isn't really a center, Belton who knows, Tom coming off major injury. They must add versatile depth there or things could get very ugly.

@Scuba_Steve161 @Kinger112611 @Peter_Bukowski We could add center to the list. All three interior OL are suspect. A high draft pick creates pressure on those three to perform or lose their starting job. So no, not "everyone" would be pissed about drafting iOL early.

@RossUglem I'd say it goes beyond needing a 6th OL. IMO, the OL was the Achilles heel of the offense. Morgan is unproven and the interior OL was average at best last season. There's plenty of room for upgrades on the OL.

If they spend a 2nd round pick on a Kitan Oladapo upgrade when they have two corners who can't play, no nose tackle, no sixth offensive lineman and no WR depth, I would be displeased.
gigs53202@gigs53202

@RossUglem Isn't there some concern about depth at nickel/safety? If one of the safeties gets hurt, Oladapo would have to step in at S/NB...assume that Haulcey is much better (not saying spend a 2 or 3 on that depth, but a spot they might need a guy is all i'm saying)

@RossUglem Agreed on Savion, wow was he slow, but Golden was creating a lot of separation. When he learns the playbook look out. - Watson and Golden can both go deep - Watson, Golden, and Kraft all run intermediate routes - Kraft and RBs near the LOS It's a strong group *when healthy*.

Yes except if they don’t get extensions done your WR in ‘27 are Watson, Golden, Savion and ……. Golden was underwhelming and Savion was nothing

@Peter_Bukowski Watson, Golden, Kraft + a pass catching RB would be enough. The rest can be Malik Heath caliber guys. Last season's offense primarily failed due to poor OL play. If I'm Gute I'm drafting CB, DL, and OL until day 3.

Wicks, Reed, and Watson are all free agents a year from now. That leaves Golden and Savion as the only core guys under contract. Even if they extend Watson, that's not enough. And I can't see GB wanting to pay Reed or Wicks the going rate for starting WRs.

Why have Rasheed Walker and Romeo Doubs not signed somewhere yet? I thought they'd both be gone in the first hour of free agency yesterday.

@DaireCarragher Reggie in the Green Bay years created game changing results just like Micah... but in a larger more powerful frame. He wasn't as fast or as agile, but very powerful. Look up Reggie highlights and you'll see him throwing guys around. But in the end it feels the same.

@NateFies11 @mattschneidman Spicy take - the NFL should stop permanently retiring numbers. Just retire them while the person who wore it is still alive. Time marches on.
