Spring cleaning mode: activated 🧼✨ But here’s the thing—“clean” shouldn’t come at the cost of your indoor air. Strong fragrances and sprays can irritate your eyes, skin, and lungs—and for most homes, simple cleaning gets the job done (save disinfecting for when someone’s sick). ✨Skip heavy fragrances, choose low-toxicity products (like EPA-certified options), or keep it simple with a DIY cleaner—just mix a little Castile soap with warm water. A clean home should feel good to live in—not just look good. To safely dispose of cleaners, use Connecticut’s Household Hazardous Waste collection programs: ow.ly/MKkq50YYWaw #SpringCleaning #HealthyHomes #IndoorAirQuality #PublicHealth

Meningococcal disease can progress quickly and lead to serious complications—but there are ways to help protect against it. Vaccination is one option recommended for preteens and teens, especially those entering middle school, high school, or preparing for college. Families may want to check in with their healthcare provider to see what’s recommended and whether their child is up to date: ✔️ First dose at 11–12 years ✔️ Booster dose at 16 years Staying informed can help you make the best decisions for your family’s health.

DPH has confirmed Connecticut’s first case of clade I mpox in an adult who recently traveled to Western Europe, where cases are currently being reported. There is no current risk to the public. Mpox is still circulating in the U.S. and around the world. It spreads through close physical contact and can cause a rash, fever, and flu-like symptoms. The good news: protection is available. The JYNNEOS vaccine (2 doses) is safe and effective, and DPH recommends it for people who may be at higher risk—especially heading into summer travel and gatherings. If you notice symptoms, don’t wait—contact a healthcare provider. Testing is available statewide. Learn more: ow.ly/vWVn50YZ9rc #CTDPH #Mpox #StayInformed #PublicHealth

Everyone is at risk for mosquito and tick bites—and the germs they can spread. Some people may be at higher risk for serious illness, but no one is completely risk-free. The good news? Prevention is simple. 🦟 Before you go outside: ✔ Use an EPA-registered insect repellent ✔ Wear long sleeves and pants ✔ Treat clothing/gear with 0.5% permethrin Learn more about preventing mosquito and tick bites: ow.ly/FkuW50YWhYv

✏️ Missed school days aren’t always about skipping class. For many students, asthma can make it harder to show up, stay comfortable, and focus throughout the day. 🏫 That’s why Connecticut is taking a closer look. A statewide school-based tracking system is helping us better understand how asthma impacts attendance and daily life—and how schools can better support students. Because when students can breathe easier, they can learn better. 👉 Check out the latest findings: ow.ly/iVE450YWgxX

Wondering about your water quality? Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, community water systems are required to provide annual water quality reports to customers. These reports summarize testing results and confirm that your water meets safety standards. It’s one more way public health systems work to keep communities informed and protected. 💪 🔗 Access resources + learn what to look for: ow.ly/CojI50YMGkB
