Saddened to learn of the passing of former Utah football player Greg Newman at 38. His family is donating his brain to @bu_cte & has organized a GoFundMe to support BU's #CTE research. I can only imagine why the family believes he had CTE, but the troubling thing is that based on our experience - that >50% of our brain donors who played college football have had CTE - the family has probably diagnosed him correctly. That's hard to believe for a disease that cannot be diagnosed accurately during life, is even more difficult to accurately diagnose in young people, and some doctors claim has no clinical symptoms. Of experience suggests CTE is changing people in ways families, but perhaps not doctors, can recognize. We must #EndCTE. kslsports.com/517561/2008-ut…

They’re right, first book I’ve ever read cover to cover in less than 24 hours. Was afraid to buy it the first time I saw it at Barnes & Noble but got it the second time and I’m glad I did. Zac Easter sacrificed himself to better CTE research, mental health awareness and football.

2/3 He asked his loved ones to spread the word about concussions, CTE, and mental health and to try and make sports safer. Because of him, CTE Hope was created. We remember and mourn Zac today, but we also honor him by continuing to work towards our mission and help others.

1/3 Five years ago today, the world lost Zac Easter to CTE. Zac donated his brain to science so that he could help others silently struggling with this disease.
