Cooking outside the tent is dangerous 😮 From the DofE Expedition Guide: A firm level surface at ground level where the stove will not be knocked over is ideal and it must be at least two metres away from flammable items/tents.

Year 10 went on their @DofE expedition training for 2026 just before Easter where they took on a multitude of challenges 💙 They completed a training walk to learn navigation skills between Wolverley and Kinver Edge where there was glorious sunshine. Our students picking up the skills really quickly! They then took on the challenge of camping at Blackwell Court Bromsgrove, learning to use Trangia stoves before cooking own evening meal and pitching their tents. In the evening they managed to get a good fire going in the fire pit, and then played enjoyed some card games before a chilly night. The next day they were challenged with a full day of training to equip them with skills for their expedition. They were skilled up with First Aid and emergency procedures, did some menu planning, learnt how to pack a rucksack efficiently, were trained in hazard identification and risk control, as well as planning their route cards for their summer expedition. We’re in Wolverhampton tomorrow delivering another Scout First Response first aid course for leaders from West Mercia Scouts District. As previously, 24 delegates attended to renew existing skills and knowledge or, if their first course, acquiring new and important skills 😊

Our ‘open’ Silver @DofE expedition week starts tomorrow in the Long Mynd area of Shropshire, with 28 young people from many areas of the UK. For some participants, they will firstly undertake the required 2 days of expedition training before undertaking a practice expedition 😊

Today, we've been supporting young people from Starbank School (Birmingham) with classroom-based Bronze @DofE expedition training. For the participants, there's been lots of fun, whilst developing new skills & acquiring much knowledge, leading to a safe & enjoyable expedition 😊

Over the next 2 days we’re supporting young people from Hastings High School (Hinckley) for a Bronze @DofE qualifying expedition in the Leicestershire area. Lots of personal, social, & educative development will be taking place, with fun & challenges ahead for the participants 😊

Tomorrow we are at St George’s School (Edgbaston) for classroom based Bronze @DofE expedition training. We are looking forward to positively engaging with the young people throughout the day helping them develop knowledge & skills in readiness for their expeditions 😊

We're supporting young people at Southam College tomorrow afternoon for Gold @DofE qualifying expedition route planning. The area chosen is the Black Mountains area of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) NP & there'll be plenty of choice for routes for the Expedition Teams 😊

For the next 2 days, we’re supporting young people from Elthorne Park High School (Ealing) for Silver @DofE expedition training. Instructor-led navigation training (Tring area) tomorrow & classroom-based on Thursday. We love opportunities to engage positively with young people 😊

We’re looking forward to supporting young people from Wheelers Lane Technology College (Birmingham) tomorrow for an unaccompanied Bronze @DofE practice walk in the Upton Warren area of Worcestershire. Opportunities to further develop knowledge & skills learned during training 😊

On Sunday, we’re at Finham Park School (Coventry) supporting over 100 young people with Bronze @DofE classroom-based expedition training. Our staff team are looking forward to positively engaging with YP, imparting lots of knowledge, & teaching many useful expedition skills 😊

On Sunday, we are supporting young people from Ibstock School for a Silver @DofE instructor-led navigation training day in the Cannock Chase area. We’re looking forward to imparting valuable skills & knowledge, as we positively engage with the participants during the day 😊

Following today's Bronze @DofE instructor-led navigation training, tomorrow we’re again with young people from The George Eliot Academy (Nuneaton), this time for classroom-based training. More knowledge & skills to be learned & developed to prepare them for their expeditions 😊

Good luck to all the @DofE Leaders, from various parts of the UK, that are undertaking their Level 3 Qualification in Lowland Expedition Leadership assessment in the White Peak area this weekend. Once qualified, they will be ready to support young people with DofE expeditions 😊

Tomorrow, we’re supporting young people from George Eliot Academy (Nuneaton) with Bronze @DofE instructor-led navigation training in the Leicestershire area. Plenty of learning opportunities & fun to be experienced in the countryside, as well as developing new practical skills 😊

Today, we’re Gold @DofE qualifying expedition route planning at Tudor Grange Academy Solihull. The Black Mountains in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park is the chosen area, offering challenges & fantastic experiences for the young people 😊

Tomorrow we have an instructor-led Bronze @DofE navigation day in the Lickey Hills Country Park area for young people from St George’s School Edgbaston. A great opportunity for them to enjoy the countryside, whilst learning valuable skills for them to use on their expeditions 😊

We’re looking forward to supporting young people from Ada Lovelace CofE High School (Ealing) this weekend as we support them for Bronze @DofE expedition training. An instructor-led navigation day in the Hertfordshire area on Saturday & then classroom based training on Sunday 😊
