Another year, another failing report card for Connecticut.
❌ Cost of Living: D
❌ Economy: D+
❌ Cost of Doing Business: D+
❌ Workforce: C-
These aren’t new grades. CNBC has ranked Connecticut one of the most expensive states to live and do business in for years. This is what happens under one-party Democrat rule.
CT Senate Republicans have proposed real solutions to cut electric bills, eliminate the Public Benefits Charge, lower taxes and make Connecticut affordable. Democrats keep voting “no.”

For years, CT Senate Republicans have called for stronger oversight of taxpayer dollars sent to nonprofits. Many of these organizations do great work serving our state’s most vulnerable residents, but there is little to no accountability for how the money is actually spent.
Time and again, we’ve seen Gov. Lamont and CT Democrats dole out millions in taxpayer money to politically connected insiders. The situation at New Opportunities, Inc. is just the latest example of why oversight matters. Your hard-earned money should stay in your pocket. Not lining someone else’s. It’s time for real accountability.

A new poll confirms what we’ve been saying for years…Connecticut has an AFFORDABILITY CRISIS due to failed Democrat leadership.
According to a University of New Hampshire poll, 4 in 10 Connecticut residents want to leave the state. 4 in 10 say they are likely to move within the next five years. That is the highest of any New England state surveyed in June 2026.
Why?
💰Taxes
🏠Housing costs
💸Cost of living
People love this state, but are being priced out and can’t afford it anymore. CT Senate Republicans have been sounding the alarm on affordability for years, and we have put real solutions on the table to lower costs and keep families here. Democrats voted down our $1.5 billion tax relief plan and our proposal to eliminate the Public Benefits Charge during the 2026 Legislative Session.
Connecticut should be a place people can afford to live, work and raise their families!

💸 Gov. Lamont and CT Democrats keep finding ways to increase costs!
You already pay the Public Benefits Charge, but did you know there’s ANOTHER hidden cost in your electric bill? The state requires power companies to buy special permits, and the price has risen more than 900% since 2008.
So who pays? You do. Every month, on your already sky-high electric bill.
We pay the second-highest electricity rates in the country. CT Democrats keep hiding fees and digging into your wallets, hoping you don’t notice.
Senate Republicans have a plan to eliminate the Public Benefits Charge and lower your electric rates. We will keep fighting to make Connecticut more affordable!

America’s story began with citizens who believed freedom was worth fighting for, and Connecticut stood among them from the start, supplying troops, provisions, and leaders to the cause of independence. Two hundred and fifty years later, that same spirit of courage and sacrifice still defines who we are. We are grateful for the freedoms we celebrate today and for the country we are proud to call home. Happy Independence Day from the CT Senate Republican Caucus. 🇺🇸 #America250

🌊Brace yourself, Connecticut. The Aquarion sale is final. A tsunami of water rate hikes is coming for 735,000 customers in 60 towns across our state. And here’s the insult on top of the injury — these future rate hikes won’t need approval from state regulators anymore.
CT Republicans have been warning about this sale for months and said from Day One that this deal stunk. There was no public hearing and no say in the matter for ratepayers that will be impacted. Senate Republicans will keep standing with the ratepayers forced to dig deeper in their pockets to pay outrageous water and electric bills. bit.ly/4pjzZw5

250 years ago, 13 colonies dared to become a nation. Connecticut was one of them.
Then known as the “Provisions State,”Connecticut supplied gunpowder, soldiers, and the resolve that helped win American independence. That same spirit still runs through our state today.
As we count down to America’s 250th birthday on July 4th, we’re proud to celebrate the freedom, history and unmistakably American story that began right here in Connecticut. 🇺🇸

On July 1st, several new laws take effect in Connecticut. Among the most concerning are two public acts that were forced into law by CT Democrats to take over control of local decision-making. Republicans will continue fighting to put the power back in the hands of municipalities that know their communities best!

Same playbook, different day. CT Democrats blame everyone but themselves for the affordability crisis, soaring electric rates, rising property taxes and corruption under Gov. Lamont.
After decades of failed Democrat leadership and policies, Connecticut residents’ quality of life has been greatly diminished. When will they stop pointing fingers and start owning the mess they made?

Senate Minority Leader Stephen Harding said Democratic control of state government has led Connecticut to become unaffordable, and claimed that Democrats would raise taxes on job creators.
“We are seeing job losses across a variety of key industries. Nearly 12,000 people in Connecticut stopped looking for jobs in just the last month alone. Does anyone think the affordability crisis will get better under one-party rule? It will get worse.”

According to a recent CT Inside Investigator article, a new CT Department of Labor report is out, and it confirms what residents already know and feel every day in our state.
Unemployment in Connecticut just hit 5.1%. A year ago, it was 3.8%. We are now above the national average for the fifth month in a row. Nearly 38,000 people have left the workforce in the past year.
This is not bad luck. Business leaders are pointing straight at state tax policies that drive up business costs and hurt job creators.
CT Senate Republicans put a $1.5 billion plan on the table this session to address the cost-of-living crisis. Our plan would cut property taxes, eliminate the car tax and the Public Benefits Charge, and lower electricity rates and healthcare costs.
CT Democrats rejected every piece of it.
CBIA President and CEO Chris DiPentima told Inside Investigator that “legislators did not address two of the biggest expenses residents face: the Public Benefits Charge driving up electric bills, and the rising cost of healthcare.”
Failed Democrat policies have a cost. Connecticut residents are paying it.

Today, we honor a pivotal day in our nation’s history. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It is a day to celebrate our nation’s greatest founding principle – freedom.
Under the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation took effect in 1863, declaring enslaved people in the Confederacy to be free. Over the next two years, Union troops worked to enforce it, and slavery was formally abolished nationwide with the 13th Amendment in 1865.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, the date on which Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, TX, announcing that all enslaved people in Texas, the most remote part of the former Confederacy, were free.
