Many soldiers brought photos of the girl back home with them to the front lines. Some brought their girl with an #ArchivesPets! This adorable little locket was carried by Albert Calhoun, HQ Co, 102d Infantry. #ArchivesHashtagParty #dogs

Soldiers loved their #ArchivesPets during WW1. Connecticut's 102d Infantry had a whole menagerie of animals besides #SgtStubby. There was Foxy the fox and even a pig, though he didn't have a name, or stay a pet for long 🫤. #ArchivesHashtagParty

Many soldiers and sailors in #WWI spent a fair bit of time hoofing around with a goat friend. We're not kidding! They were baaa-rilliant and bleat-iful #ArchivesPets! Just ask Jack LaValle, hopefully he didn't butt heads with his Sgt! #ArchivesHashtagParty #goats

The Inter-Allied Games were held from 22 June - 6 July 1919 at Pershing Stadium in Paris. The games brought nations together to heal the wounds of war. From rugby to boxing to camel racing, there were #ArchivesSports for everyone. #ArchivesHashtagParty

F Russell Smith had the treacherous job of driving an ambulance throughout #WWI, so when they got leave in March 1918, he and his pals Sid Alling and Jack Walker headed to Nice and made a point of playing a few rounds of golf. #ArchivesSports #ArchivesHashtagParty

The Big Offensive didn't always include a trench! Boxing was a favorite pastime of the doughboys during #WWI. 1st LT Kenneth Shrewsbury snapped this fight somewhere in France. #ArchivesSports #ArchivesHashtagParty

"I guess it will be a long time before we meet again" wrote Pvt Willard Butler on this #ArchivesPostcard as he shipped off to France. Thankfully we'll see you all next month for another #ArchivesHashtagParty #WWI

Who says an #ArchivesPostcard have to be a photo or an image? We're particularly fond of these embroidered postcards made in France during #wwi. These were popular souvenirs for soldiers to send home to their sweethearts! #ArchivesHashtagParty
