5/ Demand response has existed across the U.S. for decades. It is a cost-effective way to reduce strain on the grid during peak demand and helps prevent power outages. Millions of Americans already participate in voluntary smart thermostat and other demand response programs.

4/ Demand response programs don’t give utilities control of your home. They give consumers the option to get paid for helping stabilize the grid. Participation under HB 427 is always voluntary. Customers must opt into these programs, and they can opt out at any time.
