Over nine years, local photographers documented the transformation of the Mississauga shoreline into the new Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area. Now, those images are coming together in Morphology 2026, a public gallery exhibition exploring our evolving relationship with water, landscapes and stewardship along Lake Ontario. A huge thank you to the students from Erindale Secondary School and Port Credit Secondary School for helping plant 200 native trees and shrubs across the Credit River Watershed! 🌱 It’s inspiring to see so many young people showing up for the environment and making a lasting impact on the natural spaces that plants, animals and insects depend on every day.

📌 Accessing Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area: From the west boat launch parking lot at Marie Curtis Park, go west along the Waterfront Trail for approximately 500 metres until you get to the conservation area entrance. Continue another 500 metres along the Waterfront Trail to the Indigenous Teaching Amphitheatre. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to walk all the trails in the conservation area. Out with the invasive plants, in with the native plants!🪴 This weekend, volunteers from across the Credit River Watershed came together to help restore local ecosystems. In Erin, community members planted 155 native plants along the Elora Cataract Trailway. In Mississauga, volunteers removed invasive garlic mustard from 4,400 square metres at Rattray Marsh Conservation Area. A special thank you to MP Charles Sousa for joining us, who acknowledged the role of Jean Williams and the Rattray Marsh Protection Association for their long-standing dedication to protecting and enhancing the marsh. The event was also attended by Councillor Alvin Tedjo in his role as CVC Board Vice Chair. Thanks to the many volunteers joining us this spring to protect local biodiversity, support native habitats and help natural spaces thrive. Interested in volunteering in your community? Have you ever seen birds exchange gifts? 🎁 Grebes are known for one of the most unique courtship rituals in the wild. During breeding season, pairs will present each other with bits of aquatic plants as part of their bonding display. It might look like a simple exchange but it’s an important step in building a strong pair connection before nesting begins. #birding

Our Youth Crew Leaders led Upper Canada College (UCC) students through an interactive hike about invasive species within the Credit River Watershed.🚶🌿 We worked hard pulling invasive Buckthorn, clearing 50m2 of forest space for future native plants. Some buckthorn were large and well established but these students worked together in a way that was impressive and inspiring! Thank you for having us and helping the watershed. Keep an eye out for ruby-crowned kinglets moving through the forests and natural areas of the Credit River Watershed this spring. They’re often mistaken for golden-crowned kinglets but males have a hidden ruby-red patch on the top of their heads that flashes when they’re excited... or going to a rock concert?! Their quick movements and constant foraging can make them tricky to spot but hearing their song or catching a flash of red is always a special springtime moment. 👀 Have you spotted on this season? #birding
