Planting native trees and shrubs is a powerful step toward long-term land stewardship. 🌳Our direct sale program supports landowners who want to improve their landscape with native species at a manageable scale, while our larger restoration program remains available for multi-acre projects. Both approaches play an important role in watershed health. Learn more and shop native trees and shrubs: store.cvc.ca 📸 Common ninebark

A watchful eye from CVC staff recently spotted something special in the watershed! 👀🦉 Great horned owls are among the earliest nesting birds in Ontario. Instead of building their own nests, they often reuse old nests built by hawks, crows or other large birds. By nesting early, these owls can claim the best nesting sites and give their young extra time to grow, learn to fly and develop hunting skills before winter returns. Their excellent camouflage helps them stay hidden in plain sight. Even when branches sway in the wind, their mottled feathers allow them to blend seamlessly into the forest canopy. As you hike, keep your eyes on the treetops. You never know who might be quietly watching from above. And if you spot a nest, be sure to keep a safe distance. #WildlifeWednesday

For us, “green” is more than a colour. It’s the natural spaces we help bring back to life, like the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area (JTLCA).🍀 What was once an industrial site is being transformed into a beautiful, vibrant landscape with restored wetlands, new wildlife habitat and access to the Lake Ontario shoreline. Projects like this, along with tree plantings and community stewardship, are all part of building a healthier, more resilient Credit River Watershed. Opening this May, we can’t wait for you to explore it 💚 Learn more: cvc.ca/project/jim-to… #StPatricksDay

WATER SAFETY STATEMENT: We've downgraded our Flood Warning to a Watershed Conditions - Water Safety Statement as watercourse levels remain high and are in recession. The forecasted precipitation combined with heavily saturated soils will likely result in sustained water levels throughout the watershed. We continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. #ONflood files.cvc.ca/cvc/uploads/20…
