Claiming that DEI initiatives discriminate against white people flips reality on its head, minimizing and distorting the actual purpose of these efforts, which is to create a fairer, more inclusive environment for all. The notion of forcing colleges to pay restitution to white people—essentially a bizarre form of reparations for perceived “reverse discrimination”—is not only a dangerous form of gaslighting but also an insult to the historic and ongoing struggles faced by those genuinely harmed by institutionalized racism. Far from addressing real issues, this proposal twists efforts for equality into a narrative that serves to reinforce existing disparities.
