Το Επιμελητήριο χαιρετίζει την Ευρωπαϊκή Στρατηγική για τη Ναυτιλία και τη Στρατηγική της ΕΕ για τους Λιμένες, οι οποίες αναδεικνύουν τον κομβικό ρόλο της Ναυτιλίας ως γεωπολιτικό πλεονέκτημα για την ευημερία και την ενεργειακή ασφάλεια της Ευρώπης. Οι πρωτοβουλίες αυτές αποτελούν ένα ουσιαστικό βήμα για την ενίσχυση της ανταγωνιστικότητας και τη στήριξη της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης της Ευρωπαϊκής Ναυτιλίας. Είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντικό το γεγονός ότι προωθείται η διευκόλυνση της πρόσβασης σε χρηματοδότηση για επενδύσεις σε πράσινα καύσιμα, τεχνολογίες και καινοτομία, δίνοντας ταυτόχρονα έμφαση στον ανθρώπινο παράγοντα μέσω της επανεκπαίδευσης και της αναβάθμισης των δεξιοτήτων (upskilling & reskilling) των εργαζομένων στον κλάδο. We were delighted join the event organised by P&O Maritime Logistics and hosted by DP World at the Limassol Port Passengers Terminal, to welcome students from Larnaca participating in the Cyprus Shipping Chamber’s “Adopt a Ship” Programme. Representing our Chamber, Deputy Director General and Legal Affairs Manager, Sophoclis Constantinou, attended and addressed the event. Our sincere thanks for the kind invitation and for supporting this initiative, which connects young children with the exciting world of shipping. For two decades, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber has been proud to lead the "Adopt a Ship" initiative, inspiring the next generation of maritime professionals.

Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του Κυπριακού Ναυτιλιακού Επιμελητηρίου είχε τη χαρά να παραθέσει σήμερα γεύμα εργασίας στην Υφυπουργό Ναυτιλίας, κ. Μαρίνα Χατζημανώλη. Κατά τη συνάντηση συζητήθηκαν τα σημαντικά ζητήματα που απασχολούν την Κυπριακή Ναυτιλιακή Βιομηχανία, καθώς και εισηγήσεις για την περαιτέρω ανάπτυξη και ενίσχυση της ανταγωνιστικότητας της Κυπριακής Ναυτιλίας. CSC Director General, Alexandros Josephides, held a courtesy meeting with Mrs. Thea Pieridou, Head of the European Parliament Office in Cyprus. The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration between the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the European Parliament, highlighting the significant contribution of the Cyprus Shipping Industry to both the local and European economies. CSC held its February Members’ Meeting , during which Members had the opportunity to be briefed on the new Cyprus Tax Reform framework. For this Meeting, the Chamber welcomed Mr. Antonis Taliotis and Mr. Panayiotis Marinou, Tax Partners of @Deloitte Limited, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on “Highlights of the Cyprus Tax Reform”. The speakers provided a well-structured analysis of the key provisions of the legislation that came into force on 1 January 2026, together with its practical implications for companies operating within the Cyprus Shipping cluster.

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber is participating in this week’s session of the International Maritime Organization Sub-Committee on Human Element, Training and Watchkeeping (HTW) in London, as part of the International Chamber of Shipping delegation, represented by its Marine Manager, Chrysostomos Efthymiou. The session will address key matters related to the future of seafarer training and certification, including the comprehensive review of the STCW Convention and Code, oversight and verification processes, training for new technologies and alternative fuels, as well as work on model courses and fatigue. Through its engagement in the relevant working groups, the Chamber is closely following developments and contributing to the discussions, ensuring that the views of the Cyprus Shipping Industry continue to be effectively represented in the IMO’s regulatory work. @IMOHQ @shippingics

This prestigious distinction is a testament to his exemplary career, his longstanding contribution to the Cyprus Shipping Industry and his continuous dedication to strengthening Cyprus as a leading international maritime centre. We are deeply saddened by the passing of David Dearsley, who prior to the merger with ICS, served as Deputy Secretary General of the International Shipping Federation (ISF). The Cyprus Shipping Chamber had the privilege of working closely with him and greatly valued his dedication and significant contribution to global shipping. His commitment to the industry and his constructive cooperation with the international shipping community have left a lasting legacy. On behalf of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, we extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

It was our pleasure to visit His Excellency, Mr. Rubén Pino Martínez, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus and exchange perspectives on ways to deepen collaboration in shipping affairs of shared importance between Cuba and Cyprus.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the new RO/RO “Patris” to #Limassol and celebrating this special milestone with our Member, #Salamis Organisation. Warm congratulations on the delivery of this fine new vessel, sailing under the Cyprus flag and further strengthening the Cyprus Ship Registry and the resident Shipping Industry, while reinforcing Cyprus’ position as a trusted international maritime centre. We wish “Patris” fair winds, calm seas and many safe and successful voyages ahead. May she be a strong addition to the fleet and support the continued growth and success of the Salamis Organisation, as it celebrates its 67th anniversary and continues contributing through many more milestones to #CyprusShipping.

At our first Monthly Members Meeting for 2026, we were pleased to welcome Mr. Thrasos Afamis and Mr. Charalambos Kais from the Department of Public Works of the Cyprus Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, who led an insightful discussion on a topic affecting our local community: “Limassol Traffic Congestion – Scale, Actions and Measures.” The presentation offered a clear picture of the current challenges, while also outlining the concrete plans and measures already underway to ease congestion and improve daily mobility in Limassol. Το Κυπριακό Ναυτιλιακό Επιμελητήριο εκφράζει τη θλίψη του για τον θάνατο του κ. Γιώργου Βασιλείου, πρώην Προέδρου της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας. Ο κ. Βασιλείου υπήρξε μια εξέχουσα και σεβαστή προσωπικότητα για την Κύπρο, με πολυσχιδή προσφορά και βαθύ αίσθημα ευθύνης απέναντι στη χώρα. Με το όραμα, τη διορατικότητα και τη δράση του κατά τη διάρκεια της Προεδρίας του, συνέβαλε ουσιαστικά στη διαμόρφωση μιας σύγχρονης Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και άφησε ανεξίτηλο αποτύπωμα στην πολιτική και κοινωνική πορεία του τόπου. Θα του είμαστε πάντοτε ευγνώμονες για όσα προσέφερε στη χώρα μας και στη ναυτιλιακή βιομηχανία μας. Εκφράζουμε ειλικρινή συλλυπητήρια στην οικογένεια και τους οικείους του. Αιωνία του η μνήμη.

Στο πλαίσιο στενών επαφών για συντονισμό στα θέματα που θα απασχολήσουν την Κυπριακή Ναυτιλιακή Βιομηχανία το νέο έτος, το Κυπριακό Ναυτιλιακό Επιμελητήριο είχε την ιδιαίτερη χαρά να συναντηθεί με την Υφυπουργό Ναυτιλίας, κα Μαρίνα Χατζημανώλη. Ευχαριστούμε θερμά την Υφυπουργό για την ουσιαστική και εποικοδομητική συζήτηση, καθώς και για τη σταθερή της προσήλωση στη στήριξη της Κυπριακής και Ευρωπαϊκής Ναυτιλίας. Εκ μέρους του Επιμελητηρίου παρευρέθηκαν ο Πρόεδρος κ. Ανδρέας Νεοφύτου και ο Γενικός Διευθυντής κ. Αλέξανδρος Ιωσηφίδης. Το Επιμελητήριο καλωσορίζει την ανάληψη της Προεδρίας από την Κύπρο, εκφράζοντας θερμές ευχές για κάθε επιτυχία. Η Προεδρία αποτελεί μια μοναδική ευκαιρία να αναδειχθεί η δυναμική της Κυπριακής Ναυτιλιακής Βιομηχανίας και η σημαντική συνεισφορά της στην οικονομία της Κύπρου και της Ευρώπης. Με κοινό όραμα και πνεύμα στενής συνεργασίας, το Επιμελητήριο θα συνεχίσει να συνεργάζεται ενεργά με το Υφυπουργείο Ναυτιλίας για την προώθηση πρωτοβουλιών που ενισχύουν την ανταγωνιστικότητα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ναυτιλίας και διαμορφώνουν ένα βιώσιμο μέλλον για τον κλάδο μας. Συζητήσαμε τα κρίσιμα ζητήματα που απασχολούν τη βιομηχανία, με έμφαση στην απανθρακοποίηση, επιβεβαιώνοντας την ανάγκη να συνεχίσουμε την ουσιαστική συνεργασία μας και να συμπράξουμε για ρεαλιστικές και βιώσιμες λύσεις που διασφαλίζουν την ανταγωνιστικότητα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ναυτιλίας, καθώς επίσης και την χρηματοδότηση έργων, μέσα απο τα εισοδήματα του Κράτους απο την εμπορία των δικαωμάτων των ρύπων απο το Ευρωπαικό Σύστημα Εμπορίας Ρύπων, τα οποία θα συμβάλουν στην απανθρακοποίηση της Κυπριακής Ναυτιλίας. Με ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον αναμένουμε τις επερχόμενες δράσεις του Υφυπουργείου κατ την διάρκεια της Προεδρίας ιδιαίτερα στους τομείς της ναυτικής εκπαίδευσης και της προώθησης των γυναικών στη Ναυτιλιακή Βιομηχανία, τομείς στους οποίους το Επιμελητήριο δραστηριοποιείται ενεργά από την ίδρυσή του. #CyprusShipping #EU2026 #EUPresidency #Cyprus @HadjimanoliM @maritimeCyprus
