@known_As_RKO @EddGorenstein @BGatesIsaPyscho Im more than willing to let them come home if that is what the Spanish and Portuguese want.
English

@EddGorenstein @BGatesIsaPyscho Make sure you say the same thing to the thousands of Brits that live in Spain, Portugal and Italy 😂😂😂

@TheBestOfSweden @Telegraph Oh right, elections only count when you say they do?
How about Zelensky?

@ken_hobbs @FollowTheScien4 @john_notabot @DonaldPond6 Tell us your full energy mix then? What needs to be invested into to be able to use solar and wind adquetly?
English

@FollowTheScien4 @john_notabot @DonaldPond6 It’s wild how some people can’t grasp the concept of mixed energy sources.
The problem is gas is running out and frequently volatile in price.
This is a transition, but already we have halved our gas consumption for power generation.

@millie141414 @blagden_david @Danjsalt Saying a government spent the “largest amount ever” is misleading. Nominal spending always rises because the economy grows and inflation exists. The best view is defence spending as a percentage of GDP, which shows how much of the country’s resources are actually being committed.

English

Bullseye. The likes of MacKenzie paid precious little attention to UK defence cuts as long as they weren’t deemed good domestic-political theatre. But now they’re a chance to score hits against a government of an unfavoured colour, they’re suddenly a pressing concern.
Peter Hitchens@ClarkeMicah
Goodness, .@Kelvinmackenzie, the rundown of British defences (especially the RN) was under way under Margaret Thacher(and John Nott) , and has continued relentlessly under Tory and Labour governments. Did you run lots of headlines pointing this out?
English

Historic England run a lovely scheme helping people to clean some of these up.
Here are a couple of their before/after examples.

@Dankuser2024 @cheapncheerless @JetElectricEyes I dont mind that focus, but with that mindset, South Korea should be nowhere near SAFE funds if the koreans fear a confrontation with Russia. The equipment they would sell to europe would almost be definitely against russia. What if they restrict use like the swiss do?
English

@cheapncheerless @JetElectricEyes Basically nothing revolves around morality in international relations. It revolves around self interest. South Korea doesn’t want to harm relations with Russia.
I’m not defending it, but it’s the best explanation.

@IrishPatri0t How come some of the areas with the least immigration in Wales were some of the biggest backers of brexit? Its almost like it wasnt all just about immigration

The country is completely fucked. You cannot trust the police, juries or the courts to uphold the law in a neutral and unpolitical manner. You can break into a factory, cause millions of £’s worth of damage and smash a police officer with a sledgehammer and get away with it.

@IndubitablyTho @Harry__Faulkner In 1917, the US bought the Danish West Indies (134 sq mi) for $25m = $186,500 per sq mi. Adjusted to 2025, that’s ~$4.66m per sq mi. Applied to Greenland’s 836,330 sq mi, that implies a value of ~$3.9 trillion. I think if the US came with that money, I would support them.
English

Annexation: the forceable seizure of another state's land.
Did the US annex the Virgin Islands?
The United States did not annex the Virgin Islands through military conquest; rather, it purchased them from Denmark in 1917 for $25 million in gold coins. The transaction was formalized through the Treaty of the Danish West Indies.
The US will not annex Greenland, Harrison. They'll buy it (make some kind of deal for it). The blustering is just typical Trump negotiating style throughout his career.
English

Apparantly it's now Anti-Americanism to oppose the annexation of Greenland.
Yankee go home.
J.J. McCullough@JJ_McCullough
Pierre is never going to get elected on anti-Americanism. That’s a Liberal issue and Carney owns it. Pierre’s strongest bet remains cost of living, immigration, China. His best Trump talking point is just reminding that Carney dishonestly promised he’d get a deal with him.

@petrichorcodex @FexlOrelius @suryakane @protosphinx A lot of Russian oil and gas Infastrucutre was built for extraction towards Europe, for that oil and gas requires ships from St Peterburg to get to China the entire way across the globe, and what infastructure they have in siberia is minial and requires alot of money to expand.
English

@FexlOrelius @suryakane @protosphinx im always confused abt why russia isnt ever figured in w chinas ptl oil problem. do they just not have the infrastructure? wrong type of oil? dont want to be leveraged?
