It is laughably pathetic that people who threw a massive fit because an Igbo artist used a common Yoruba word like “Owambe” now think they have the right to curate the Biafran genocide.
They’ve already parasiticly hijacked curating Things Fall Apart, and now these vultures are circling our deepest historical trauma for profit.
Enough with the shameless overstepping into our past.
Enough with the cultural theft and copycatting.

If as a Nigerian I cannot make a documentary about the Holocaust, If as a Nigerian I cannot make a documentary about the Rwandan genocide, If as a Nigerian I cannot make a documentary about the Armenian genocide, If as a Nigerian I cannot make a documentary about the Somali civil war, If an Igbo woman cannot even have the word “Owanbe” in an exhibition she is holding in Lagos without getting attacked, Then Meji Alabi-Isama and Leke Alabi-Isama have absolutely no business making a documentary about the Biafran genocide as Yoruba people. Biafra is not some neutral historical topic to us. It is generational trauma, starvation, massacres, displacement, grief, and pain that still lives in Igbo families today. If they are so desperate to tell a story, they should tell the story of how Yorubas were enslaved and sold by the Fulani. They should make a documentary about the fall of the Oyo Empire instead of inserting themselves into Igbo history.

Ndi Igbo we need a petition to stop BBC from releasing this.
The title ‘Surviving Biafra’ is erasing the reality of the genocide.
BBC hired someone whose tribe has constantly mocked starving Biafran children all over social media.
BBC hired someone whose tribe used their newspaper media to mock starving Igbo children during the crisis.
They shouldn’t be allowed to profit from our pain.
Biafra is one of the darkest chapters in Igbo history, and it should be told by Ndi Igbo and not by a Yorugba.
Biafra was never a Yorugba experience, it was an Igbo experience.
We are Petitioning for a cancellation!!!!!!

BBC wants to release a documentary titled “Surviving Biafra.”
They want to paint Igbos as villains, but that narrative will never stand.
The title should be “Surviving Nigeria.” You cannot call it “Surviving Biafra”
Biafrans were victims of pogroms in Northern Nigeria, and victims of war criminals who starved 3 million Igbo children to death.
BBC labeled the 1966 coup an “Igbo coup” and helped shape narratives that fueled hostility against Ndi Igbo.
They also underreported the number of Igbo people massacred in the North.
They are not the right people to tell Igbo stories.
And of course, they chose a Yoruba filmmaker to make the documentary. Are we surprised?
Whenever they want to push propaganda against Ndi Igbo, there is always an Onye Ofe Ose willing to help carry it out.
Ndi Igbo, pay that documentary dust and let it flop.

Before you call any group a “Christian terror group”,
They must kill while screaming “IN THE NAME OF JESUS!” like Boko Haram screams “Allahu Akbar!”.
They must call it a “Holy War for Jesus” like Muslims call it jihad.
