Here's why Tommy DeLuca (@CabriniMLAX) won this year's @DukeCannon Unsung Hero Award... 🏆👏 On June 24, 2023, Cabrini University announced that it would shut down at the end of the 2023-24 school year. Five days later, Tommy DeLuca was introduced as the new head coach of the Men's Lacrosse team. DeLuca was a member of the Cabrini team that won the NCAA Division III Championship in 2019. He was the USILA Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and holds the program record for caused turnovers (173). At just 25 years old, DeLuca led a Cabrini Cavaliers team (with only 27 players on the roster) into its final season in program history. The emotional season was dubbed "One Last Ride." Under DeLuca's leadership, Cabrini finished 15-5 in 2024. The Cavaliers won the Atlantic East Championship and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, where they ultimately fell to CNU. "Even if it was the best-case scenario and we won the National Championship, it would still be a sad ending," DeLuca told Inside Lacrosse in May. "We know regardless of what happened, this season was always going to be the last of everything." We salute you, @TommyDeLuca12 🫡

What Tommy DeLuca did at Cabrini this year is beyond remarkable. He’s got a bright future in the coaching profession! Hats off the men of Cabrini lacrosse - you represented your program in an extraordinary way given the circumstances. #respect

Here was our take on Cabrini pre-season. My opinion now is that I hope Tommy Deluca’s phone is ringing off the hook. What he just did is as if not more impressive than 99% of resumes out there.

ONE LAST RIDE ⚔️ With Cabrini University ceasing operations after the 2023-24 academic year, @CabriniMLAX is commemorating their final season with a special helmet decal that reads "One Last Ride." Cabrini currently has 28 players on the roster. The head coach is former defenseman Tommy DeLuca, who played for the team from 2017-21. The Cavaliers won the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 2019 🏆
