Similar to part 1 of the deformation banding this is one of the most impressive 700mb Vort signatures I’ve ever seen in my life tracking snowstorms. Calling it the circle of death in which the west side dumps on the mid-Atlantic to NYC and the North side dumps on LI and SNE. As the storm keeps progressing NE the deformation band re-organizes and becomes a little more vertical and a little less compact. Somewhere across central and eastern parts of SNE is the area favored to get the best of both worlds imo in which an area of 20-30”+ of snow with 30-40+ ceiling potential will exist. Snowfall rates will eclipse 2-5”/hr(6 not impossible but hard to explicitly forecast) and thunder-snow here is also possible to likely. A historic snowstorm here likely

@weatherwilly Will i usually never comment on posts but at 500 MB the euro took a direction towards a “ more progressive look “ but still gets the job done , i think this is our last shot for a big one this winter and it this doesn’t get the job done wave the flag !!!

Not going to comment too much about next weeks potential again till tomorrow. Although there are some compelling signals, any trend towards more a more progressive flow by Euro or Can next 24 hours would be beginning of the end imo. Staying patient before I pull the trigger.

12z GFS long range has Nigel from Africa make a stop on Long Island into SNE.
*This would be a far more weenie media event than Lee. However, it’s likely to go the way of the euro and fish out.

On vacation this week but a glacier is about to build over interior New Eng next 7 days with then the shot for snow further towards coast to follow...we got winter back in the east for at least next 2 weeks...stay tuned and polish up your skis

Sun-Mon is a ski country special (pic 1 shading a good target area)...Enough cold air ahead to hang on in the far interior but due to the fact that High Pressure in image 2 will not be locked in, its warm towards coast.. The threat after should be more promising closer to coast
