My husband had an affair with the mom of one of our son’s classmates. Which sounds fake and dramatic until it happens to you. You know what’s really humbling? Realizing the woman smiling at you during school pickup is also sleeping with your husband. For almost a year this woman complimented my outfits, asked me for recipe ideas, sat beside me at soccer games… all while secretly involved with my husband. I found out because her kid accidentally mentioned that my husband came over to their house “all the time” even when her own husband wasn’t home. Children will expose everything without even realizing it. At first I genuinely convinced myself there had to be another explanation. There wasn’t. When I confronted my husband, he admitted everything immediately, which honestly made me angrier somehow. No denial. No hesitation. Just: “I didn’t mean for it to go this far.” That sentence still makes me violent internally. Like affairs are wildfires people accidentally trip into.....
