@NZPoetry @spindryer123 @visegrad24 If the slave owners were paid to free the slaves and the UK paid them then doesn’t that mean that Britain wasn’t a slave owner and any reparation arguments should be aimed at the slave owners not those who paid them to free these particular slaves?

In 1833, Britain spent £20 million, or 40% of its national budget, to buy freedom for all slaves in the Empire.
The amount of money borrowed for the Slavery Abolition Act was so large that it wasn't paid off until 2015.
Which means that many living British citizens paid to end the slave trade.

@JDVanceNewsX What does that even mean? Sharia law isn’t the law and thus doesn’t require banning. If someone enacts sharia law and clashes with USA laws then they are prosecuted. By ‘banning’ sharia law you’re giving it a platform for martyrs
