Norwayne has now won 11 consecutive games in their WCAL rivalry with Hillsdale, knocking off the previously undefeated Falcons 24-17 to claim their second consecutive league crown.
Hillsdale (9-1, 6-1) took a 3-0 lead in Creston on a 38-yard AJ Brown field goal, but it would be their only advantage of the game. A 44-yard TD run by Chaz Maxwell would then put the Bobcats (8-2, 7-0) in front for good, later extending their cushion to 14-3 on a short plunge into the end zone by Cam Hackworth. A 1-yard TD run from Hillsdale QB Kael Lewis answered Norwayne's score, but a diving 2-yard TD snag by Cade Leach just before the half had the Bobcats in front 21-9 at the break.
Both defenses held court in the 3rd quarter before the Falcons pulled within 21-17 early in the 4th on a halfback pass from Owen Sloan to Hayden McFadden for a 3-yard score. Hillsdale would hold Norwayne out of the end zone on their ensuing drive, holding the Bobcats to a 32-yard Carter Miller field goal giving them one last chance to tie the game. Lewis would put up a 50/50 ball down the sideline that would get stolen from the receiver on the ground, leading to the game-clinching interception for the Bobcats.
